Denise Richards has said that filming Wild Things ’ infamous pool scene was “terrifying”.
The actor starred in the 1998 neo-noir film with Neve Campbell and in one scene kisses her co-star while both are in a swimming pool.
Speaking to The Guardian in a new interview , Richards has said that she was “extremely nervous” ahead of shooting. “It was terrifying,” she commented. “It was the first time I had filmed anything like that, so I was obviously extremely nervous.”
She added: “There are a couple of scenes that are very risque. There’s a lot of choreography of figuring out who’s going where, so it’s not as sexy as people think.”
When asked if she could “still look Neve Campbell in the eye”, Richards responded: “Of course, yes! I’m sure people must think that behind the scenes it’s very exciting, but it’s not. But I’m glad it comes off that sexy in the movie.”
Richards had previously revealed that she had asked her young daughters not to watch the film’s more explicit scenes . The erotic thriller gained notoriety upon its release for featuring several sex scenes , which were more explicit than is typically seen in mainstream Hollywood films.
“I definitely did not give them a copy,” she said. “I told them, ‘I don’t want you guys watching this’, because one of my daughters brought it up to me and I was shocked.”
Earlier this month Richards showed support for her daughter, Sami Sheen, following criticism over the 18-year-old’s decision to join OnlyFans .

To celebrate the recently remastered re-release of Wild Things on 4K and Blu-ray, as well as its 25th anniversary fast approaching, we had the pleasure of chatting with star Denise Richards to reminisce about the sizzling cult thriller.
Popular and charming, student counsellor Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillon) is no stranger to being the focus of female attention within the moneyed cliques of Florida’s Blue Bay. However, his fortunes are about to change dramatically when one of the wealthiest students at his high school, sultry siren Kelly Van Ryan (Denise Richards), accuses him of rape. The charge looks sure to stick when another girl from the other end of the social spectrum, Suzie Toller (Neve Campbell), steps forward with her own allegations, but Detective Duquette (Kevin Bacon) smells something fishy, and the truth is as murky and dangerous as the alligator-infested swamps in the hinterlands of this affluent beach community. Bill Murray also stars as Lombardo’s lawyer.
Speaking to Richards last week, she reminisces about reading the script for the first time and why she wanted to be part of it, its eclectic cast that was part of the main reason for the film’s success, its boundary-pushing in terms of male and female nudity and much more. We also talk about the film being very much “a 90s film” and couldn’t – and shouldn’t – be made the same way in 2022 as well as her whirlwind period through the late 90s that included starring in Starship Troopers, Drop Dead Gorgeous and The World Is Not Enough/

DENISE Richards reunited with Wild Things costar Neve Campbell, joking: "we picked up where we left off."
In the wake of the actress' Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drama, the old friends met up at a fan convention.
Denise captioned the snap: "#tbt reunited with @nevecampbell about a month ago signing autographs for fans.
"We couldn’t believe we haven’t seen each other since the premiere... picked up where we left off (well you know what I mean)."
She added that they "reminisced" about filming and "shared stories" about their kids.
"She’s as grounded and humble as I remember."
Wild Things was a 1998 erotic thriller, also starring Matt Dillon, about a police detective uncovering a conspiracy involving a high-school guidance counselor and two high school students who accused him of assault.
It was famous for a graphic sex scene between the two leads, Neve and Denise.
Denise said: "One of the things I love about the movies and TV shows I have worked on over the years as we move on to other projects, our paths cross again and it’s heartwarming to reconnect."
Years later, mother of three Denise was accused of having a steamy affair with RHOBH costar Brandi Glanville.
Brandi shared several cryptic posts about the Bravo series , including one which appeared to address reports she had a romantic liaison with Denise.
Denise is said to have "walked away" from filming amid the romance reports.
She recently skipped a trip to New York City with her RHOBH castmates in the wake of the "affair" claims, which Denise's reps have denied.
But Brandi took to Twitter to share: "There is a huge difference between hooking up with someone a couple of times and having a romantic relationship with someone.
"I am not lying about ANYTHING that I said on housewives and I'm willing to take a lie detector test."
