I respect your willingness to swallow your pride, so to speak, and come at this with an open mind (and gullet). As you seem to already know, the gag reflex tends to be the biggest inhibitor of the deep throat technique.

Also known as the pharyngeal reflex or laryngeal spasm, the gag reflex is the contraction of the back of the throat that occurs when triggered by an object touching the roof of the mouth, back of the tongue, tonsil area, or the back of the throat. It is meant to prevent things from going down your throat that aren't supposed to be there, and to stop you from choking. The unfortunate truth is that our throats are not designed to swallow dicks! That said, some people have it easier than others in this category. Studies show that 37% of people do not have a gag reflex . On the other end of the spectrum, 10 to 15% of people have a hypersensitive gag reflex (HGR). Regardless of where you fall, you can learn how to deep throat if you care to. Consider these tips and then dive right in.

There are throat training exercises you can do to help desensitize your gag reflex. Keep in mind, this training must take place over time in order to be effective. Pick a phallic-shaped object, starting with something small like a toothbrush or your finger, and slowly move the object toward the back of your throat. When you feel yourself starting to gag, stop and try to relax while taking deep breaths in order to suppress your gag reflex. Try to hold it there for 10 Mississippis.

The more you practice this, the sooner you will see improvements. Once you are able to hold it there for the full 10 seconds, experiment with moving the object in and out slowly. Coming up with a signal that lets your partner know to stop is of the utmost importance, as is open communication any time sexual experimentation is going down.

When it comes to deep throating, creating optimal breathing opportunities and using breath to help you to relax are important ingredients for success. Stuffed up with a head cold? Wait until your sinuses are cleared out, then try.

My sister and I had been separated and raised by different parents. I was six years older than her. When she was 17, in 1991 we begin to warm to one another again since she was just on her way to college and we could be freer to visit one another (I was raised on the east coast and she was raised out west).
One night I had a very realistic "more than a dream" - it felt like a visit. I was walking along a sidewalk near near my apartment when it started to snow sulfur, I could smell it and feel it. I walked along and shortly an illuminated Pacific Bell payphone stand appeared in front of me. My sister walked out from behind the stand and handed me the receiver from it's cradle. She said, "Call me". I asked her, "When? How will I know when you are home?" She replied, "Ask my father, he knows when I will be there."
This is the part that really threw me. She looked over her shoulder at a light in the distance and under the "lamppost" near a dark wall were 5 male teenagers with their hands in their pockets looking at her - waiting for her. They had brought her there. I "felt" that they were good, helpers, protecting her. She then looked at me again and said, "I have to go with them. Do not forget to call me." Then it all lifted away and I woke up with a start.
The next day I was at work and I couldn't stop thinking about her. It was ALL DAY of this nagging feeling that I had to do as she asked. I couldn't stop thinking of her. We hadn't spoken in 6 months and I wasn't in some time crunch to be in contact before that day.
I called her father at his work and he told me exactly when she would be home and that he would make her wait for the call at a certain time since the time difference was tricky. That night I called her and she was telling me all about her prom that was to take place the next night and about how she had time to visit me that summer before college. It was a peaceful and happy conversation.
The next night, after prom, she was murdered by a boy she barely knew who was friends with her date. She was shot at point blank range in the head with a gun that was manufactured no more than one mile from where I was raised. I passed that plant every day on my way to high school. The murderer had a gun at the post-prom party and was waiving it around and teasing people. My sister told him to stop. He ruminated and brooded about her. A few hours later he killed her in the early morning hours as she slept.
When I got the call from her parents about her death it was like an out-of-body experience of sheer horror. Then, I immediately thought about the call - I realized suddenly that a fired gun smells like "metallic sulphur", the Pacific Bell booth was to reinforce that although I was on the east coast, she could be contacted by phone, and the young men under the light were some kind of guides who helped her. I'm not sure why she came to me except that we had a lot of unfinished business in this life. Her contacting me was extremely helpful in accepting that "at least we connected" before she died. I still think of her even if it's for a fleeting second, almost every day.
