Tomohiro Machiya is a member of the Film Research Club and has always been an avid fan of filming. One day he is confronted by Mai Mashiro, an attractive girl on the swim team. She asks him to film her nonstop for two days straight. But, on the second day of filming, Tomohiro witnesses Mai brutally murder one of their classmates. However, someone else takes the fall for the crime, and Mai gleefully informs him that their film was a "winner" on Dead Tube.
As more and more of the school starts to get involved with Dead Tube, many quickly get in over their heads from the punishments for failing the contests. And, since he helped with Mai's video, Tomohiro must participate, and continue filming for this deadly game.
This is by far one of the most fucked up things I ever read. Specially the middle school arc. It is genuinely heartbreaking how innocents get horrible treatment because of sick psychos enjoying doing fucked up things and watching it. Almost no character is simpathetic for good motives. All of them are assholes in some way and the only difference is their backstories and the even more shitheads they kill for fun or vengeance.
The revenges are satisfying, but it does not solve anything in the end. I don't see why the manga continued after chapter 56, since for me was the perfect ending. Too bleak, not for the weak of heart . And yes. I mean not for the weak. I read a ton of fucked up shit in life and I thought I was prepared. If your standards of fucked up are Gantz, Berserk or something like that, think again in reading, I am warning you.
