All her books are interesting, readable, well-written, and professionally edited.

Aurora "Roe" Teagarden had just finished wrestling her lounge chair into a comfortable position when the body of her old nemesis, Detective Jack Burns, landed with a thud in her front yard. Everyone in town knew that Jack and Roe did not get along, but its not like Roe could be in two places at once so the police start looking for other suspects. But then Roe has an argument with her assistant at the library and she turns up brutally beaten the next day and her open purse is found on the hood of her bodyguard's car. An admirer sends her flowers with no name attached, her cat is suddenly sporting a new ribbon around his collar, her ex-lover is stabbed, and that is just the beginning. Roe has been found in the middle of murder and mayhem before, but this time, it's personal... I enjoyed this book, just as I have enjoyed all of the Aurora Teagarden series, but this one was not as good as the previous books. Roe solved the crimes a little too easily and there was a little too much going on for no one else to spot that the connection between all of the goings-on was Roe herself. I know it is a small police force, but come on. Anyway, Charlaine Harris' writing style is still very engaging and clear. I always enjoy her characters and there were some new people to meet in this book that were fun to get to know because they were a little different. I just wish that the plot had been a little bit better developed and solved. I felt that the author was rushing to finish this one and just decided to end it one day, wrote the last couple of pages and called it done. Still, if you have enjoyed her other books, you will enjoy this one and, if you are like me, you like to read a series all the way through, so find a cheap copy.

This one kept me guessing. I love all the Teagarden mysteries, but this one especially kept me lost on the murderer.

It begins with the terrifying Jack Burns dropped dead on her lawn. Short but sweet Aurora Teagarden is in it again.

This is the 5th in a series of mysteries about Aurora Teagarden, a librarian who has come into some money and lives among her family and friends (and a few enemies) in Lawrenceton, GA. This time out she is minding her own business when a body is dropped from a small plane and onto her newly mown lawn; it turns out to be a policeman who feuded with Roeon numerous occasions. After other killings continue to point to Roe or her household, she decides to get serious and figure out who the real killer is, of course! Aurora and her circle of acquaintances are interesting characters, but this 5th in the series was neither believable nor particularly amusing. Many people are killed and the ending wraps up very quickly and without full motivation for some of the occurences. A good series, but a subpar outing.

For a 'cozy' type of mysteries - that is a subjective description - Diane Mott Davidson is the absolute best. Stacking these up next to Goldy Bear, really cannot be fairly done. That being said, these books were enjoyable. The setting is likable and draws you in, the supporting characters all fit nicely into the series. The plots and crimes are edgier than a typical cozy, (than Davidson, Fluke, Sefton), but not as graphic as a full blown thriller. The biggest problem I have is with the main character, hence the 3 stars. I liked Miss Teagarden in the first two books and then she became unlikable. Her selfish qualities and woe is me attitude is not what I want to read in a literary heroine. No one is perfect, but a truly likable lead is one we can both identify with and admire. In addition, the series ended poorly. It could have used an epilogue at least, or another book to wrap up the characters so that we can imagine their 'happily ever after' so to speak. The books are a quick read with a good crime to solve but if you are looking for a great lead, look elsewhere.

The best part of the Aurora Teagarten books is how Charlaine Harris keeps her readers guessing. I even remember reading this book a few years ago, and I still didn't figure it out. I love the characters, how Aurora's marriage to Martin is passionate, but not perfect because what in life is? And I love Angel. I might want to be Angel if I were seven inches taller, 80 lbs lighter, and 35 years younger. instead, I will keep reading the series

This is one of Ms. Harris' earlier books and it shows in the writing. There are a few plot errors from book to book in the series but mainly noticeable if you read them back to back like I did. Overall a good book and only slightly predictable ending. It is very different from the made for T.V. movies!

In Which a Flying Corpse Gives Aurora Pause for Thought....

Our fifth outing with Aurora Teagarden and her world of mayhem, mystery and murder. The wonderful protagonist created by Charlaine Harris finds herself in another fine mess from which she must extricate herself and those around her. This time, a flying corpse landing in Auroras' front yard gives her the first inkling that all is not well and bodes an ill wind. It's a jolly good ride, well constructed and closely plotted with well drawn characters who are a pleasure to re-join. I enjoyed only a little less (and only a little!) than the previous in the series due to the fact that much of this novel spends a little too much time going over old ground from the preceeding four books. That apart, still immensely enjoyable. Each book is a standalone tale - although there is a timeline, so further enjoyment of these can most definitely be had by reading in succession. Full marks for sheer enjoyment once again. Highly recommended for those who love a good, well written murder mystery with wry humour and a great, great big heart.

Keeps you gripped.

Im making my way through this series of books and love them. They are short and easy to read but this isn't a bad thing. It builds up throughout the book and keeps me guessng. I like Charlaine's style of writing and have read other series by her. Interesting characters and keeps you gripped. I have already ordered the next two in the series! Great murder mystery book.

Love all her books, this was well up to standard but not quite 5 stars. I have introduced my daughter to them and she is also now reading them with enjoyment.

Charlaine Harris was born in Tunica, Mississippi, and raised in the Mississippi River Delta area in the middle of a cotton field. Though her early works consisted largely of poems about ghosts and, later, teenage angst, she wrote plays when she attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and started writing novels a few years later.
After publishing two stand-alone mysteries, Harris launched a light-hearted mystery series 'starring' Georgia librarian Aurora Teagarden. The first of the eight books, Real Murders, was shortlisted for Best Novel in the 1990 Agatha Awards. In 1996, she released the first of the much darker Shakespeare mysteries, featuring the amateur sleuth Lily Bard, a karate student who makes her living cleaning houses.
Charlaine Harris then wrote the first of her Southern vampire mysteries starring Sookie Stackhouse, the quirky, telepathic waitress who works in a bar in the fictional Northern Louisiana town of Bon Temps. Dead Until Dark won the Anthony Award for Best Paperback Mystery. It also won Harris a whole new fan club of devoted readers and pushed her into the bestseller lists. The Sookie Stackhouse series, in which Sookie has to deal with vampires, werecreatures and other supernatural folk - not to mention her own complicated love life - was also instrumental in creating the urban fantasy genre.
Sookie Stackhouse also enchanted Alan Ball, creator of the smash TV show Six Feet Under, who took an option and wrote and directed the pilot episode for True Blood himself. It was an instant hit when it premiered in the US, and that success was repeated when it was first aired in Britain last year. The second season of TRUE BLOOD will start this spring.
Harris's newest series features Harper Connelly, a young woman who, after being struck by lightning, finds herself able to locate the bodies of the dead and to determine the cause of their death. There are four Harper titles (Grave Sight, Grave Surprise, An Ice Cold Grave and Grave Secret).
Charlaine Harris is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the American Crime Writers League. She is a member of the board of Sisters in Crime, and alternates with Joan Hess as president of the Arkansas Mystery Writers Alliance. She is married, the mother of three, and lives in a small town in Southern Arkansas. When she is not writing her own books, she reads omnivorously!

Love these light weight mysteries. I like the upbeat characters, the silly interactions, the love between mother and daughter, and the affection between Aurora and whoever she is dating. I love the quirky characters and I love the plot. Of course I always have suggestions of things I don’t think that they handled well, but if you watch them as many times as I do, you would begin to see a couple little things. Just putting it out there in case they ever want to tidy up a few things that left me with what I felt were loose ends. Is there any chance though that we could get a list of some of the music from the movie? Specifically the introduction theme music I love it. I have been known to restart the movie three maybe four times just to look at that beautiful falls and listen to the piano or what music is being played as it the waterfall is being shown. It really helps me settle down calm down and give my full attention to the phone fast ride movie with a mystery love you for turning out such beauty

I have watched several movies in the Aurora Teagarden series. This one is a lemon. Without giving it away, one of the main story lines is never resolved—it involves a rogue cop. Also, while I truly appreciate independent women, Aurora’s stubborn rejection of any help for her safety from her boyfriend is tedious and exasperating. Hard pass on this one. Enjoyed the other ones though.
