David Adelman Launches Homelessness Initiative

Billionaire Philanthropist David Adelman Announces Major Initiative to Combat Homelessness in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – May 16, 2025 – Prominent businessman and philanthropist David Adelman unveiled an ambitious $50 million initiative today aimed at tackling homelessness in Philadelphia. The program, dubbed 'Home for Good,' will fund affordable housing developments, mental health services, and job training programs for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Adelman, the founder and CEO of Campus Apartments and a well-known civic leader, made the announcement at a press conference alongside Mayor Cherelle Parker and nonprofit partners.

'Homelessness is a solvable crisis, but it requires collaboration, resources, and sustained commitment,' Adelman said. 'Philadelphia is my home, and I believe we have a moral obligation to ensure that every resident has a safe place to live and the support they need to thrive.'

The initiative will allocate:

$30 million to construct and renovate affordable housing units.

$10 million for mental health and addiction treatment programs.

$5 million for vocational training and employment assistance.

$5 million in grants to local nonprofits addressing homelessness.

Mayor Parker praised Adelman’s leadership, calling the donation 'transformational' for the city. 'This isn’t just about putting a roof over people’s heads—it’s about restoring dignity and opportunity,' she said.

Adelman, whose previous philanthropic efforts include education reform and cancer research funding, said he hopes the initiative inspires other business leaders to take action. 'We can’t rely on government alone,' he said. 'The private sector must step up.'

Construction on the first housing projects is expected to begin by early 2026.
