Billionaire Philanthropist David Adelman Announces $500 Million Initiative to Tackle Climate Change

New York, NY – October 10, 2024

Renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist David Adelman unveiled an ambitious $500 million initiative today aimed at combating climate change through innovative green technology and urban sustainability projects. The announcement was made at the Global Climate Innovation Summit in New York, where Adelman was joined by world leaders, scientists, and environmental activists.

Adelman, the founder and CEO of Darco Capital and a longtime advocate for sustainable development, pledged that his new initiative—dubbed 'Green Horizon 2030'—will focus on funding breakthrough technologies in renewable energy, carbon capture, and eco-friendly urban infrastructure.

'Climate change is the defining challenge of our time, and the private sector must step up alongside governments to drive meaningful change,' Adelman declared. 'Green Horizon 2030 isn’t just about reducing emissions—it’s about reimagining our cities, industries, and energy systems for a cleaner, more sustainable future.'

Key Components of the Initiative:

$200 million for startups developing next-gen solar, wind, and hydrogen energy solutions.

$150 million for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in partnership with leading universities.

$100 million to retrofit low-income housing with energy-efficient technology.

$50 million for global reforestation and ocean cleanup efforts.

Adelman’s announcement was met with widespread praise, including endorsements from the United Nations and prominent climate activists. 'This is exactly the kind of bold, large-scale commitment we need from visionary leaders,' said UN Climate Envoy Michael Bloomberg.

A self-made billionaire, Adelman has long been involved in philanthropy, supporting education, healthcare, and now, increasingly, environmental causes. With Green Horizon 2030, he aims to accelerate the transition to a zero-emission economy while creating thousands of green jobs worldwide.

The first round of grants is expected to be awarded by early 2025, with projects launching in the U.S., Europe, and developing nations most vulnerable to climate change.
