Josh Duggar will be sentenced on Wednesday in his child pornography case.
A judge previously denied a long shot request on Tuesday by Duggar’s attorneys for a new trial on child pornography charges just hours before the former reality star is set to be sentenced.
The "19 Kids and Counting" alum, 34, was found guilty in December by a federal jury in Arkansas on charges related to the receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Duggar has been held at the Washington County Detention Center in his home state ever since.
Duggar's attorneys released a statement to Fox News Digital at the time, saying they intend to appeal the verdict.
"We appreciate the jury’s lengthy deliberations, we respect the jury’s verdict, and we intend to appeal," defense attorneys Justin Gelfand, Ian Murphy, and Travis Story said in December.

U.S. Attorneys in the case held a press conference outside the courthouse after the verdict was announced.
"This case represents a significant milestone for the Western District of Arkansas and our continued efforts to combat child abuse. Those who would say that children who were photographed and videoed in a manner similar to the evidence in this case are not abused and are not victims are clearly wrong. Children who are photographed and videoed in manners such as this are the victims and every time their videos and photos are traded online, uploaded, and downloaded from the internet, they are victimized again," one of the U.S. attorneys said.
Duggar's cousin Amy King tweeted that "justice has been served" following the verdict announcement.
"May the juror’s and Judge Brooks seek healing / counseling from all that was exposed to them," her statement on Twitter began. "May the children grow up with real Godly men as father figures who will guide and protect them. May the people who were once in disbelief have their eyes opened for the first time."

"May the daughters who were abused feel validated," she continued . "You are truly beautiful and worthy of love. May there be intense counseling / healing. May there be wisdom for all those involved on how to move forward. Thank you Jesus. Justice has been served."

Prosecutors are asking the judge to sentence Duggar to the maximum punishment allowed – 20 years for each count – while his legal team asked that the oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children be handed a five-year stint.
Duggar also faces $250,000 in fines for each count.

Dads are notoriously hard to buy presents for, but sometimes kids can go above and beyond the expectations for gift giving.
Gabriella Lynde from Port Richey, Florida, gave her stepfather the ultimate gift for his birthday: adoption papers.
Like any true dad, he starts opening the gift by torturing everyone around him. He slowly rips away the tissue paper, and checks in between each sheet to see if there are any hidden presents. But as soon as he picks up the adoption papers, his joking manner quickly turns emotional.
"Am I adopting you?" he asks Gabriella.
"I want you to, you don't have to. You can say no, but I want you to adopt me. You've been my dad and those legal papers don't change anything," Gabrielle responds.
The two then embrace and a river of happy tears flood the room.
Although Gabriella is above the age of 18, people can still opt to be adopted under Florida law.

Remember the story of Mercy Igoki, the 48-year-old senior assistant university registrar who accused her daughter of stealing her husband?

Mercy met and adopted an orphaned girl who was three years older than her first born. That was in 2006.

The girl bonded very well with her family and her problems began when she had to resign her job to recover from an accident that left her with multiple fractures.

“I enrolled for an undergraduate degree in Meru. I would be away from home sometimes up to three weeks or longer at a time because of my studies,” Mercy was quoted in Parent magazine, adding that she then began hearing rumours from neighbours about her adopted daughter sleeping with her husband.

“In anger, I confronted them and to my shock, my husband blamed me for the affair, saying I had brought the girl to him,” said Mercy. She has since forgiven them.

Then there was the case of Samuel Kamotho, a Thika-based engineer who was almost lynched by his neighbours after his wife, Virginia Wangari, accused him of sleeping with his 18-year-old daughter, Lucy Nyawira.

Stories of fathers sleeping with their daughters, biological or adopted, never seem to leave people gaping in wonder.

In the case above, the 51-year-old Kamotho denied the allegations, claiming his wife was peddling lies to tarnish his name for refusing to accept her back.

His daughter too denied there was any sexual relationship between them.

But why do fathers sleep with their daughters? And do girls fancy sexual intimacy with their fathers? Is it that some men have such a low sense of value and coupled with their insatiable desire for sex, are blinded into engaging in such di
