Nothing captures the public's attention like a celeb wedding. And when it's the wedding of the estranged daughter of one of the world's most famous stars to her much older girlfriend, you bet people will be talking.
It's why everyone, from Taiwan's Apple Daily to Britain's BBC and Daily Mail, are obsessing over the marriage between Etta Ng, Jackie Chan’s estranged 19-year-old daughter, and her 31-year-old girlfriend, Canadian Internet celebrity Andi Autumn. Like all millennials, the pair had announced the happy news via an Instagram selfie of themselves holding up their marriage cert. They had tied the knot in Canada, where same sex marriage is legal on Nov 8.
Etta is the lovechild of the 64-year-old Hongkong movie legend and his ex-mistress, former beauty queen, Elaine Ng, who has since opened up about her daughter's marriage. "As parents, we have to accept our kids growing up, and we have to get used to it," she said. In a YouTube video posted in April this year, Etta and Andi had described themselves as “homeless due to homophobic parents”.
So we guess there's progress on the home front?
The couple now hopes their marriage will inspire other same-sex couples, and have hashtagged their posts with #gaymarriage, #lovewins and #fightforwhatsright. They wrote on IG: “We have conquered our fears, accepted our faults, and now we understand that the people who hurt us are hurting still. We have all been hurt but if you can dream of love, you can find it. Love is kind, it does not judge. Love is both strength and weakness. Love can make change. Love wins!”

In Etta's IG post from three days ago, she wrote: "There is nothing greater than true love found. With love we've returned. My home is Hong Kong, a beautiful city full of life and passion."

Even though Jackie Chan has never publicly acknowledged his daughter, it's clear they are related, judging from how Etta closely resembles his son Jaycee.

Etta and Andi had posted a video to air their grievances towards their parents and to complain about being homeless. They were lambasted by netizens who said that they, especially the then 30-year-old Andi, should be looking for jobs instead of whining about their lives.

There were reports claiming that father and son have a strained relationship.
Taiwanese singer Harlem Yu turned 60 earlier this week (July 28), and he celebrated the milestone in style with a very meaningful donation.
He also received many gifts and cakes from his friends and loved ones but we think it's this little gesture from his son, 19-year-old Harrison Yu, that must have meant the most.
Harrison, who is Harlem’s son from his first marriage to Taiwanese singer-actress Annie Yi, is now studying abroad in America. Harrison previously made the news for posting pictures of himself in drag on Instagram.
Unlike his ex-wife Annie who has been more-than-happy to talk about Harrison in public, Harlem has been a little more reticent.
This gave rise to rumours that Harlem and Harrison aren't on good terms. It didn't help that there were reports claiming that Harlem’s mother, Peking opera star Chang Chengfen, is very conservative and doesn't approve of Harrison's love for drag.
However, these rumour mongers will have to eat their words now.
On July 28, Harrison posted a number of throwback pictures taken with Harlem on his Instagram Story to wish his dad a happy birthday.
One of the photos was taken during Harlem’s birthday last year and Harrison even wrote the words “love you” to his father, further dispelling those rumours that they don't get along.
Harlem and Annie tied the knot in 2000, and welcomed Harrison in 2002. They divorced in 2009 after nine years of marriage.
Annie is now married to Chinese actor Qin Hao, and their daughter Milly is five.
Harlem got hitched to newscaster Jinny Chang in 2018 and they have a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son together.
