A man in Bristol County, Massachusetts, has been sentenced to a maximum of 12 years in prison after he was convicted last week of raping his girlfriend's young daughter.
Travis Taylor, 51, pleaded guilty before the Fall River Superior Court on June 17 to indictments charging him with rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a person under the age of 14, a report by the Fall River Reporter said.
The Freetown resident received a sentence of 8 to 12 years in state prison. He will serve 10 years of supervised probation after his release, local radio station WBSM reported, citing the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
According to a report by state prosecutors, the victim's mother contacted the Freetown Police Department on Dec. 3, 2019, after she walked into her home and found Taylor sexually molesting her daughter.
After speaking with the victim, investigators learned that multiple sexual assaults had occurred, WLNE reported. Lab testing confirmed the victim's statements when Taylor's semen was found on her.
"The defendant took advantage of his access to the young child and sexually assaulted her. Fortunately. the victim's mother came home and caught the defendant in the act," District Attorney Thomas Quinn was quoted as saying by WBSM.
He added, "The conduct is reprehensible and a serious breach of trust. I commend the child for having the courage to come forward to tell her mother and investigators what happened to her. The sentence is well deserved."
A Berks County, Pennsylvania, man was arrested last month on similar charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend's 12-year-old daughter for nearly three years.
Manuel Molina-Nunez, 42, was arrested on May 6 and charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.
County prosecutors alleged that Molina-Nunez had been sexually abusing his girlfriend's daughter since she was 9 in a home in Reading between January 2017 and October 2019.

I get how frustrating it can be when your loved one keeps protecting an abusive spouse. You need to be calm and give her the support she needs.
Some people live in a constant state of fear, fear that the spouse is going to leave them, fear they will never be good for anyone else.
I think it will be very helpful if your mum could attend help groups/sessions for women that have been abused. She should know that she is not alone in this and that she has her loved ones and children behind her.
I know it is very tempting to punch that guy but do think of your mum first. Instead of screaming and cursing at him, find a good time, sit your mum down and let her know your concerns. Tell her how worried you are. In the end, you just want her to be happy. You want her to be with a guy that could take care of her 24/7, is responsible, pays the bills, respectful and is kind to others etc. Don't she feel she deserves a good guy, instead of one who just lazes around the house, calls her fat, doesn't help out around the house etc.
Your mum is an adult. In the end, she leads her own life and she made her own choices. You and your siblings can only help and advise that much. You cannot force her to leave that guy. She has to do that on her own.
I would sit down with my mom and explain to her how I felt about all of it. At the end of the day SHE has to want things to change. As bad as you want them for her, until she decides that she's had enough there isn't really much you can do. But still tell her how you're feeling just to get it off your chest.

I stopped reading after the drinking part. Just another piece of proof among million others how women have the dumbest instincts. All you care about is if the man in question makes the area between your legs wet. The guy who WON'T make your life miserable is always in the friend zone because he's so boring. So you and your mother should both shut the fuck up and live in misery with that loser. That's what you love deep down. Women love to be abused. If I was that guy I would also convince your dumb mother to get married so I can divorce her later and then let her work while I'm dedicating my time to my hobbies. Women have been doing this for decades and wanted to replace men in society. Let's see how you like taking up the same responsibilities then.

Learn from her mistakes so you do not repeat them. That is the best you can hope for here.
