Data Reporting Assistant
Digital nomads. Work from anywhereCompany: Mosaic Conseil
Mosaic Conseil is a boutique remote firm that focuses on reconstructing business plans and financial models with high precision. We do not operate on retainers or produce slide decks. Instead, we work at a bench, taking artifacts like pricing grids or diligence files apart to see how they function against the actual evidence of the invoice ledger. Every project at Mosaic Conseil involves two people: one who builds the model and one who argues against it. This ensures that every assumption is validated before we return the final document to the client, backed by a written argument and ninety days of phone support.
Our current work includes a significant engagement for a prominent Italian financial services firm. We are looking for a Data Reporting Assistant to help our small team manage the data flow and reporting requirements for this project and others in our pipeline. This is a full-time, permanent position that is conducted entirely in a remote setting.
About Mosaic Conseil
We are a small, intentional workshop. We remain small so the people doing the analysis are the same people who answer the phone when a client calls with a question. Our specialty is rebuilding business artifacts from the ground up. Whether it is a three year plan or a complex pricing structure, we look for the truth at the floor of the business. We focus on four specific rooms: growing software companies, industrial networks, healthcare systems, and financial services. By staying independent and remote, we focus entirely on the evidence found in the files.
What you would do
As a Data Reporting Assistant, you will assist the builders and challengers in our workshop. Your primary focus will be the integrity of the data we use for our models. You will be helping us process information for our work with a prominent Italian financial services client, ensuring the numbers we rely on are accurate and well documented.
* Extract and organize data from raw invoice ledgers and financial statements.
* Compare new data sets against existing models to identify discrepancies.
* Prepare clear, written summaries of data findings for the team to review.
* Document the steps taken to verify specific figures within a pricing grid.
* Assist in the audit of financial artifacts to ensure every entry is supported by evidence.
* Maintain the internal repository of project files and version histories.
* Support the challenger by finding data points that might test or disprove a builder's assumptions.
* Summarize transaction histories into digestible formats for our written arguments.
Helpful background
This is an entry level role. We are looking for someone who is organized, honest about what the data shows, and willing to learn our specific way of working. You do not need years of experience, but you do need to be comfortable with numbers and logic.
* Basic familiarity with spreadsheets and how to use formulas to organize data.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot patterns in long lists of transactions.
* Clear written communication skills for explaining findings without using jargon.
* A logical approach to problem solving and a healthy sense of skepticism.
* The ability to work independently in a remote environment.
* Interest in how financial services and complex business models operate.
* Educational background in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
How we work
We value deep work and intellectual honesty. Our workshop is fully remote, which means we avoid the typical corporate theater of endless meetings and status updates. We schedule only what is necessary so that we can focus on the files. We operate on a 'one builder, one challenger' model. In this role, you will see how these two roles interact to create a finished product that is defensible and accurate. There are no hierarchies here to hide behind: the work is either correct or it is not, and we rely on the evidence to tell us which one it is.
What the role offers
This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for the entry level market. You will have the opportunity to work on complex problems for high level clients, such as our current Italian financial services project, from a fully remote setting. We provide a workspace where your time is respected, and your focus is directed at real analysis rather than internal politics. Since we are a small firm, you will learn the mechanics of business modeling and financial auditing directly from the people who do the work every day. You will have the autonomy to manage your tasks and the support of a team that prizes evidence above all else.
Working at Mosaic Conseil means committing to the discipline of the ledger. We take pride in the fact that our work eventually ends up as a physical document that a client can hold and trust. We look for people who find satisfaction in the quiet, steady process of getting the numbers right and standing behind the written word.
