Data Analyst / Analytics Engineer
Digital nomads. Work from anywhereCompany: talanoa
The Opportunity
We're supporting an established European fintech business operating in the international payments and financial services space, as they look to strengthen their data analytics capabilities.
The company has an existing data architecture and infrastructure in place and is now looking for a hands-on Data Analyst / Analytics Engineer to take ownership of its ongoing maintenance, optimisation and development.
This is not a role focused on building a data platform from scratch. Instead, you'll be working with established systems, improving data processes, introducing automation and helping different business functions make better decisions through reliable, actionable insights.
Reporting into the Technology team, you'll work closely with stakeholders across Product, Marketing, Finance and Compliance.
What You'll Be Doing
* Maintain, optimise and improve existing data pipelines, models and reporting infrastructure.
* Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and analytical solutions using SQL, Python, Tableau and related tools.
* Work closely with Finance to support financial reporting, transaction analysis, reconciliation processes and data accuracy.
* Partner with Product and Marketing to analyse customer behaviour, conversion, engagement and opportunities to improve the customer experience.
* Identify opportunities to automate reporting, data processing and analytical workflows, including the practical application of AI tools.
* Ensure data quality, consistency and accessibility across business functions.
* Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and actionable insights.
* Collaborate with engineering colleagues to continuously improve the existing data environment.
What We're Looking For
* Solid hands-on experience in data analytics, business intelligence or analytics engineering.
* Strong SQL skills and practical experience with Python.
* Experience working with data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes and data modelling.
* Experience with Tableau or similar BI and visualisation tools.
* Familiarity with modern analytics tools such as dbt, AWS Redshift or comparable technologies.
* Demonstrable experience working alongside Finance or Accounting teams, with an understanding of financial data, transaction flows and reporting requirements.
* An interest in automation and practical experience using AI or other technologies to improve workflows.
* Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
* Experience in fintech, payments, banking or financial services.
* Exposure to product analytics, customer journeys, conversion funnels or marketing analytics.
* Experience working across multiple client projects, particularly within a consultancy or software development company.
* Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and data pipeline monitoring.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
* Established infrastructure: Build upon and improve an existing data platform rather than starting from zero.
* Real business impact: Your work will directly support product decisions, customer experience and financial operations.
* AI and automation: Opportunity to introduce new tools and smarter ways of working.
* Remote-first flexibility: Join a distributed European technology team.
* Flexible engagement: Open to permanent employees, independent contractors, fixed-term arrangements and potentially part-time consultants.
* Evolving role: Join a business undergoing transformation, with scope to influence how its analytics capabilities develop.

If you're a hands-on data professional who enjoys making existing systems better, solving practical business problems and exploring how AI can improve analytics workflows, I'd love to hear from you.
