– Order plain cake from your local grocery store bakery and decorate it yourself! They can do a frosted white or naked caked for a fraction of a bakery’s cost. I started doing this for the girls’ birthdays this year after learning about it from a friend and I’m never going back!
– You can make your own, unique balloon colors by double stuffing balloons. I ordered some double stuffed ones on Etsy and made the rest myself by using black and brown balloons from Amazon. It is time consuming but the results are gorgeous if you are going for a certain color scheme/look!
– Serve a large charcuterie board with a variety of items. I made a long “board” across our kitchen island by laying down brown Kraft paper and placing a huge variety of grazing foods and snacks and it was a HUGE hit! If you’re looking for an aesthetic way to serve snacks and have the space for it, this is definitely it!

I recently shared bits and pieces of my weaning journey with Remi on my IG stories and had an overwhelming amount of responses from mamas struggling to wean their littles of all ages.
With both my girls, I found such a lack of information about weaning on the internet so I wanted to write down what worked for us in hopes it could help others.
Before I jump into it, I wanted to note that every baby is different and these tips may not work for everyone. When it really comes down to it, you know what’s best for your little, mama!
Sadly with my oldest daughter I did a very sudden, cold turkey approach simply because I couldn’t find any answered or help anywhere. It was so physically and emotionally hard on both of us and the transition hit me harder than PPD.
I’m proud of myself for making it to 2 yrs and 3 months with Scarlett and almost 2 years with Remi this time. She will be turning 2 next month and my long term goal was to nurse for 2 years so this was a good time for us to start weaning.
I knew I wanted a slower process this time and wanted to let her lead the way.
If for any reason she wasn’t ready and wouldn’t take well to the weaning process, I was more than willing to stop.
I listened to her and let her guide me.
I started out by slowly cutting out her “boredom nursing” sessions, the times that she pulls my shirt down on the couch in the middle of the day.
I gently replaced them with a snack or a distraction like play time.
I would simply just tell her “we don’t need to nurse right now, let’s eat a snack or play instead!”
The distractions worked great and after a few days/weeks, she stopped asking in the middle of the day.
I knew nap and bed time would be rough.
We co sleep and she nurses on demand so this is definitively the most challenging part.
I started out by placing bandaids on my nipples one night before bed time and told her “the milkies are broken because you’re such a big girl now”
I wasn’t sure how she would react and was ready to forfeit the plan if she got too upset.
She surprisingly took it SO well! She was a little sad and just said “milky broken” a few times and snuggled me.
I put on a lullabies playlist to help her relax, I’m partial to this one because I used to play it on repeat when Scarlett was a newborn.
After a few minutes, she fell asleep in my arms.
I was so shocked at the fact that she reacted so well and fell asleep without nursing for the first time ever!
I figured the rest of the process would be a piece of cake until she woke up a few hours later screaming for the boobie. I gave in and nursed her that night.
She’s always woken up in the middle of the night so this wasn’t new to us, I just always nursed her back to sleep.
The next few nights she was able to fall asleep super quick with our new snuggle and lullaby routine but kept waking up in the middle of the night and screaming.
I tried to calm her without nursing and gently reminding her that they are broken but that only worked during the day, she was a whole different child in the middle of the night lol
I continued to nurse her 1-3 times in the middle of the night and slowly the screaming turned to just whining which was a big step. I began letting her fuss for a few minutes while snuggling her before giving in to nurse. Then after about a week, I was successfully able to calm the whining and put her back to sleep by just snuggling her every time.
It has been 2 weeks now and she completely stopped nursing at night.
Her day nap has been the easiest transition. Just like bed time, we snuggle and listen to lullabies and she has been falling asleep in a matter of minutes.
I was so nervous about giving up her day nap since I cut it with Scarlett around this age but so happy she still gets to nap as usual!
Here are a few other things that helped along the way.
Thankfully I’ve never been an over – producer and produced “just enough” both times so my milk decreased quickly.
I’m beyond grateful for how easy this weaning process has been and I hope our experience and these tips can be helpful to any mamas that are struggling with this!
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message over on IG!
I can’t believe our first born baby girl is already 5!
This year officially marks the age that she no longer lets me pick her party themes. A little bittersweet moment but at the same time makes it easier for me!
Scarlett has been OBSESSED with Encanto. And when I say obsessed, I truly mean it in every sense of the word. I’ve seen her go through phases of every Disney Princess movie she’s seen – being interested for a few weeks, asking for the toys and princess dress and then moving on. But Encanto has captured her little heart in a way I haven’t seen before. She has dang near memorized the entire movie script, puts on her Mirabel dress first thing in the morning every single day, and sings the soundtrack away all day. She practically lives and breathes Encanto so of course she picked it as her birthday party theme.
I was excited to get to planning with my own creative twist to it! Since the movie is still so new, there wasn’t much inspiration to go off of so it was a bit challenging and time consuming to coordinate everything on my own but the extra work was definitely worth it because it came out SO beautifully and Scarlett said this was her favorite party ever!
This post is sponsored by the Omni Dallas and Visit Dallas but all opinions are my own.
Let me just start this post by saying if it wasn’t for Disneyland and dreamy So Cal beaches, our family would move to Dallas in a heart beat! It’s one of our favorite places we’ve ever visited.
Our first trip was 3 years ago when Scarlett was about 1.5 years old. My husband is THE BIGGEST Dallas Cowboys fan. I’m serious when I say I’ve never in my life met anyone else more enthused about a football team lol! Attending a game was at the top of his bucket list and I had to make it a reality! Til this day, that was our best and most memorable trip we’ve gone on. We talked about it almost every football Sunday for 3 years. The game was amazing, adventuring and sightseeing around Dallas was super fun, but the best part was the hotel we stayed at.
The Omni Dallas Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Dallas with the most incredible city views, luxurious modern decor and amazing on-site restaurants! Perfect destination for all Dallas adventures and only 18 miles away from AT&T Stadium!
This year I got an incredible opportunity to partner with Omni Dallas again to bring you the Ultimate Cowboys Experience! I am beyond excited that we got a chance to stay at our favorite hotel again, attend our second game with Scarlett, bring Remi to her first and also bring my mother in law who is a die hard Cowboys fan. Below you will find details of all of our experiences along with some tips and tricks to make the most out of your visit!
AT&T Stadium Tour : This is an absolute MUST for any Cowboys fan! It was so incredible to see the stadium outside of game day. Robert always talked about walking on the field where the boys play and that little dream of his was fulfilled during the tour! The tour guide takes you throughout all parts of the stadium which is so cool to see. The stadium does tours daily but I suggest going the day before game day! I feel like it’s an exciting experience seeing the stadium right before our game. Part of the tour takes you through the locker room and we got to see the player’s uniforms being prepared for game game day. Definitely one of our favorite parts of the day!
Another reason to go before game day is AT&T stadium does Rally Days every Saturday before a game during football season! The outdoor area of the stadium is filled with activities for the whole family, inflatables, games, a dj along with food and drinks! They also do exclusive ticket giveaways and opportunities to get autographs form alumni players. We all had so much fun attending this!
Game Day : I’m going straight into tips with this one because we had a pretty rough start getting to the game. Although we left somewhat early (or so we thought) the traffic was awful and parking was even a bigger nightmare so we definitely didn’t get to the stadium on time.
– Leave extremely early, plan for plenty of extra time.
– Research and purchase parking before game day. This was something new to us because 3 years ago we were able to park at the Rangers Stadium and walk right over to AT&T. This year parking was awful. Every lot within the general vicinity had signs that they only accepted permits. We were a little confused but learned it meant a purchased parking ticket. Most of the lots were full by the time we were there and in a desperate, last minute attempt I was able to snag a spot at the stadium parking lot which cost $200. So crazy!! Parking will be the first thing we look into after we buy game tickets next time!
– Order food and drinks through the Cowboys app. Lines get pretty crazy so if you don’t want to miss too much of the game, order as soon as you get to your seat and your order will be brought to you!
Now to the good part! I truly can’t say enough good things about the game experience! I’ve been to plenty of sports events before and nothing compares to the Dallas Cowboys games. I don’t quite know how to put it into words, this is coming from someone who has little to no interest in football but just being there is such a positive, fun, exciting and electric feeling! Maybe it’s seeing how over the moon happy Robert is, being surrounded by thousands of other fans and everyone cheering and celebrating together. It feel like one huge family party! My favorite part this year was actually seeing how much Scarlett got into the game. She’s been watching football with daddy every Sunday and cheering for the boys and she was able to understand and enjoy it with us! She even knows a lot of the players’ names and we got a chance to catch them leaving the game and cheer for them and she was SO excited!! Remi on the other hand, slept most of the game on me in the carrier which worked out great
Where to eat, pre game and celebrate post game:
One of my favorite parts about The Omni Dallas is how many incredible restaurants they have on site! Both of the times we’ve stayed, we never had to leave the hotel to get food! From pizza, game day appetizers, tacos, to sushi and a steak house, you are SET on dining options!
Our favorite one has to be The Owner’s Box ! This place is a sports lover’s dream filled with wall to wall tv’s including a 16 foot screen so you can enjoy the game from every angle. The menu is southern comfort food meets game day! Delicious appetizers, burgers and sandwiches and a full service bar. Plus they are open late! 12 am on weekends & 11 pm on weekdays, perfect after a late game or if your family eats late like us!                                                                           Omni Dallas has an awesome Owner’s Box Experience package right now which includes deluxe room accommodations, $50 food & beverage credit, and complimentary overnight parking. Click here to learn more about this offer!
We grabbed breakfast at Texas Spice both mornings and all I can say is I wish we could have brought bigger appetites! I’m not exaggerating when I say I had the best omelette of my life there. Im still craving it! They have a full breakfast buffet, omelette and waffle station, as well as full menu items and everything we tried was SO good. I love that they use local, farm to table ingredients for all of their dishes.
Hops & Hens is another great, quick & easy option. This is the newest restaurant that just opened and Robert and I got a chance to stop by without kids for some drinks and we took full advantage! Over 15 local brews on tap and beautiful modern decor, outdoor seating areas with games, this is such a fun spot!
Take a walk through the lobby and enjoy some live music, grab a drink at the bar and lounge by the fireplace.
Visit the Mokara Spa . This was another kid free experience Robert and I got to enjoy and it was incredible! We got a couples massage and relaxed in the relaxation lounge with some champagne and it was the best day date we’ve been on in a long time!
The Dallas Arboretum is magical duding the holidays! The beautiful botanical garden is transformed into a winter wonderland with over one million lights, a Christmas Village, scavenger hunts and activities for kids, as well as Santa visits! The girls were in awe of all of the lights and decorations!
The Star in Frisco – Though this is a little outside of Dallas, I had to mention it since I’m sharing all things Cowboys! The Star is a 91 acre campus of The Cowboys Headquarters and practice facility with tons of events and activities. We didn’t get a chance to visit this year but on our previous visit we had the best time here! Every Friday and Saturday 11/19 – 12/18 The Star Hosts their Christmas Extravaganza with lighting of their 67 foot tree, performances by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, player appearances, and more! This was one of the most fun events we got to attend and I’m currently looking for a way to squeeze in another trip ASAP so we could go again!
Thank you Omni Dallas and Visit Dallas for helping our family make the best memories!! We cannot wait to visit again!
I thought I’d dust the ole blog off to share Remi’s 1st birthday party because I have so many cute pictures, it would be a shame to hoard them all to myself and not share anywhere! :p
I will admit, this was the most stressful party I’ve put together yet but it came out just like I dreamed! I tend to do mostly everything myself because I like things to look a certain way and party planning truly brings me a lot of joy (until the day of when I’m frantically running around putting it all together lol)
I planned for a “You are my Sunshine” theme with a boho twist featuring lots of rust and golden tones. I wanted to go big for her first birthday and got a chance to partner with some amazing local vendors. I love how everything came together!
We rented Marquee letters for an extra addition and it was so stunning! A total wow factor and the pictures were to die for.
The white bounce house was my favorite part and of course a huge hit for the kids.
I’ll let the pictures below speak for themselves!
