As a child Matt Murdock was blinded by a chemical spill in a freak accident. Instead of limiting him it gave him superhuman senses that enabled him to see the world in a unique and powerful way. Now he uses these powers to deliver justice, not only as a lawyer in his own law firm, but also as vigilante at night, stalking the streets of Hell's Kitchen as Daredevil, the man without fear.
Matthew Murdock, blinded by chemicals, is an attorney at day and vigilante by night. He is trained in the martial arts and feuds with criminals in Hell's Kitchen. As he fights convicts throughout the city, he meets new allies as well as old friends and becomes Daredevil, a symbol of justice for a corrupted city.
This show is well scripted, well cast and very detailed. While I have no qualms about praising those aspects of the production there is at least one area in which I feel the show is lacking. Daredevil is not just a hero he is a superhero. After watching both seasons I am still unimpressed with the visual depiction of his powers. The underworld is well represented here. The gun violence is quite visceral and graphic in nature. The characters are interesting. Conversely, the action scenes are adequate albeit a little too dark for my tastes and the total lack of special effects strips the screenplay of any sense of wonder. Say what you will about Affleck's version but one thing that it absolutely nailed was the visual aspect of the character. DD's radar sense is brilliantly brought to life in the 2003 film and is sorely missed here as are some of the high wire sequences that take place above Hell's kitchen. Cox's devil doesn't climb, swing or tumble nearly enough for me and is merely a modern day version of Kato of Green Hornet fame. BTW, his suit is inferior to Affleck's also. This show is too much of a crime drama ala Steven Seagal and could use more flair to show how Daredevil is a hero who has a unique perspective of our world.

In other words I like the show for it's drama but wish it had some of the Visual appeal of the feature film. With better SFX it would be a 10/10. My rating is 7/10. Take away Colin Firth as Bullseye and the movie is also 7/10.
First, the bad: I'm not a fan of Vincent D'onofrio. He's not scary as the Kingpin, he's just super creepy and pathetic. Like a quivering old baby. Not what I want in the Kingpin. Maybe there's something in the comic that portrays Kingpin in this manner otherwise I cannot explain why they cast the blubbering D'onofrio.

Other than that, in just the first four episodes that I've watched, Daredevil is the best Comic Book show to date. I like Arrow, can watch S.H.E.I.L.D. and the Flash, didn't like Peggy Carter, but am stoked on Daredevil.

I like his smart, honourable lawyer character. And the gymnastics and speed fighting he does as the man in the black mask. We rarely see such real speed in fight sequences. Not since Darth Maul perhaps in Phantom Menace. It's a treat. And can't be faked using CGI. Made me wonder if they'll ever get SpiderMan sequences to look realistic.

Maybe i'll update this after watching the first season, if D'onofrio ruins it for me or not. The rest of the supporting cast is good

Yes, it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with such films as Iron Man (2008), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Incredible Hulk (2008), and The Avengers (2012), as well as the TV shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) , Agent Carter (2015) and Jessica Jones (2015). As well as upcoming series Luke Cage (2016), and Iron Fist (2017).

The show also makes several references to the Avengers film. Such as "after new york was destroyed", or "unless he has a suit of iron or a magic hammer".

Ben Urich's office also contains framed newspaper covers featuring the events in The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers. Season 1 has been confirmed to take place three years after The Battle of New York. Stick enlists Matt's help to destroy "Black Sky," a weapon that the Japanese mafia, led by Fisk's associate Nobu, are bringing into New York. Matt agrees on the condition that Stick restrain himself from killing anyone, but Stick breaks his promise when it is revealed that Black Sky is a young boy being held in a shipping container with chains around his neck and limbs. Stick fails to kill Black Sky while at the docks with Matt, but later says he killed the boy further up the road. Stick does not go into detail but says that the boy was more than "just a boy" and that Matt would have sensed this had he not been emotional at the moment. Black Sky is not a term previously found Marvel Comics so there is no clear parallel to be found there at this time. What exactly the boy named Black Sky is and how exactly he is a weapon is not revealed as of the first season of Daredevil, and any fan theories are pure speculation. In season 2; Elektra is revealed to be the Black Sky. There has still been no confirmation on who or what the Black Sky actually is. a5c7b9f00b
