Danielle Savre, the 29-year-old native of Simi Valley, California, who portrays the hardened firefighter Maya Bishop on ABC TV's Grey's Anatomy spinoff series Station 19 , embraces her curvy, softer side in a new photoshoot for the glossy fashion magazine La Palme , including one shot in which Savre wears nothing but bikini bottoms and a see-through, floral dress after TV casting executives told her that she needs to lose weight.
"I've had to fight the stereotype thing. We have to navigate this as women. I have boobs and a butt and I've had casting people tell me to lose weight and photographers telling me to flaunt it," she said to US Magazine , in a write-up of the La Palme photo spread. "Do I cover up and hide it? It's who I am. Some days I wish I had no boobs and no butt and no curvy legs. It's an interesting terrain we women have to deal with — and a constant."
In another bikini shot from the photo layout release this week — a shot that Savre posted on her own Instagram page — she sports a fuschia, strapless top with matching shorts to go with six-inch spike heels as she poses on the edge of a rooftop hot tub.

Savre also recently told of her struggles toning up for a romantic, lesbian love scene — her character, Maya, is bisexual — in which she strips off from her bulky firefighting gear down to nothing but a sports bra. At least that was all viewers could see on network television. Savre told Extra that she worked out daily with a personal trainer to getting in shape for the scene, and was forced to swear off, at least temporarily, one of her great passions in life — candy.
"I lived on egg whites and chicken," Savre recounted for Extra .

In the Station 19 episode “Poor Wandering One,” while Dean ( Okieriete Onaodowan ) tries to reason with a man battling Alzheimer’s disease (guest star and former SNL star Garrett Morris ), Sullivan ( Boris Kodjoe ) and Bishop ( Danielle Savre ) deal with an Army veteran who threatens to blow up a pawn shop.

When not filming Station 19, gorgeous actress Danielle Savre sometimes ditches her heavy firefighter uniform for a string bikini as seen in the photo above. She also looks amazing in the one-piece (below) that reveals A LOT of leg. So much so that one fan asked: “are you bottomless?”

Danielle Savre's career is heating up thanks to her starring role on the new TV show Station 19.
So it's no wonder the 29-year-old California native slipped into a red swimsuit to celebrate. The former child star - who was in Summerland and Malcolm In The Middle in her youth - went to the desert for her cover shoot for summer issue of Millennium Magazine .
In the issue she talked about how Hollywood can get the best of people. 'Acting - it's a profession that makes you feel as if you will never be pretty enough, young enough, talented enough, just… never enough,' she began.
Red-y for her closeup: Danielle Savre of TV's Station 19 slipped into a red bathing suit as she posed for Millennium Magazine
Tough town: In the issue she talked about how Hollywood can get the best of people. 'Acting - it's a profession that makes you feel as if you will never be pretty enough, young enough, talented enough, just… never enough,' she began
The star then added, 'You have to learn to love yourself and embrace that you are where you are supposed to be exactly at this moment and stop dwelling on the what ifs. Life is complicated enough we just seem to always want to complicate it even more.
'My method of shaking them is to write down 3 things I do like about myself. Simply reminding myself of the positives I do cherish is enough to quit dwelling on my imperfections.'
In the magazine she talked about growing up in the 'deep valley' neighborhood of Simi Valley, which is an hour from the major film studios.
'I was this energetic and sassy child that loved to play dress up, loved to live life and absolutely loved TV and movies,' she said.
Words of wisdom: The star then added, 'You have to learn to love yourself and embrace that you are where you are supposed to be exactly at this moment and stop dwelling on the what ifs. Life is complicated enough we just seem to always want to complicate it even more'
Her best friend's mom was the assistant to an agent who convinced Danielle's mother to bring her in for an audition.
The blonde wore a swimsuit and heels for the cover
She was only seven-years-old at the time. 'Truth be told, being on set has been the only place I feel most comfortable and able to be myself,' she said.
And kids at school started to notice Savre pop up in commercials for Mattel. 'I definitely was, and still am, an oddball! And, yes, EVERYTHING changed. My job became this thing that people talked about, and that's when people started making their own assumptions about me,' she said.
And she had support from her mother who didn't mind her working so young.
'My mom saw how happy being on set made me. She sacrificed so much and gave up so much for me to make it to every audition, to have the essentials I needed to learn as much as I could and brought me back down to earth if things ever got to my head,' she said.
She began her television career in 2001 with the show Murphy's Dozen, then went on to star in One On One, The X-Files, Grounded For Life and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The high school graduate had a recurring role with 2004's Summerland and then went on to appear in Charmed, Malcolm In The Middle and Close To Home.
Danielle had a hit with the movie Wild About Harry in 2009 and then was seen in 2015's Wild For The Night.
Three to remember: 'My method of shaking them is to write down 3 things I do like about myself. Simply reminding myself of the positives I do cherish is enough to quit dwelling on my imperfections,' said the CSI vet
The star's next film is Deep Blue Sea 2.
In Station 19 - a Shonda Rhimes production - Danielle said she is thrilled to be back for season two.
'I was so excited when we got the news! Shondaland encourages the people she hires to speak up and stand for something. The world she has built perpetuates gratitude and empowerment. She believes in the people she hires and you feel that. There is an all around trust and respect for each other that she instills in the work environment. It's a beautiful thing to be a part of.'
Sassy child: In the magazine she talked about growing up in the 'deep valley' neighborhood of Simi Valley, which is an hour from the major film studios. 'I was this energetic and sassy child that loved to play dress up, loved to live life and absolutely loved TV and movies,' she said
Danielle plays Maya Bishop, a feisty, intense, but warm-hearted firefighter, bringing emotional depth and layers to her performance.
'It is an honor to portray my sister and all female fire fighters, who are real life superheroes. They set the bar high and the pressure is pretty intense to not screw it up or misrepresent them in any way, but having my sister mentor me through it all is a gift,' she said.
'I just want women to see its possible. My sister is a perfect example of that. [Growing up] I never saw a film or TV show with a female fighter. Ever. People always say to me, "You have three female firefighters at 1 station that is unrealistic" and I always say, "No that's what the future looks like. Welcome to it."'
Danielle is a huge supporter of Care.org, which puts women and girls at the center of the fight for equality and justice around the world. She wants to use her celebrity to share a message.
Not a typical childhood: And kids at school started to notice Savre pop up in commercials for Mattel. 'I definitely was, and still am, an oddball! And, yes, EVERYTHING changed. My job became this thing that people talked about,' said Savre
Support system: And she had support from her mother who didn't mind her working so young. 'My mom saw how happy being on set made me. She sacrificed so much and gave up so much for me to make it to every audition, to have the essentials I needed to learn as much as I could and brought me back down to earth if things ever got to my head,' she said
'The time is now to exercise your voice. People are finally listening. Speak up, discover your passion and embrace it, be open-minded and enjoy the journey. Just remember through it all to keep your head up, believe in yourself and never give up. I hope I can be a positive influence on the younger generations with my honesty.'
She then added, 'I am an open book to a fault but I hope that it shows people that I was simply a girl with a dream and that anything is possible but the road to get there isn't always smooth. I still have so much more to learn but I hope that sharing what I have learned so far will inspire others!'
And when she has long says on set she used social media as a great tool to stay connected with fans.
'I almost only use Instagram. I love Nitch for motivational quotes. Joylenz for the most artistic posts that inspire my desire to create. Discover Earth to fuel my love for travel even more. And DailyMail to get lost, watching some of the most entertaining, hilarious or even moving videos.'
Resume: She began her television career in 2001 with the show Murphy's Dozen, then went on to star in One On One, The X-Files, Grounded For Life and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The high school graduate had a recurring role with 2004's Summerland and then went on to appear in Charmed, Malcolm In The Middle and Close To Home
