The 31-year-old star will reprise her role as Topanga Lawrence-Matthews on the upcoming spinoff series "Girl Meets World," in which she and co-star Ben Savage are now the parents of a tween girl.
Fishel has faded from the spotlight since "Boy Meets World" ended its seven-season run in 2000. Maxim was eager to take a walk down memory lane with the actress, and wanted to know if she ever partied with the rest of the TGIF crew:
"One time we were all on a private jet going to Disney World, and my mom, dad, and brother were also with me. We had these four seats facing each other with curtains, so we had our own little private family area. Anyway, we were trying to take a nap, and all of a sudden Bob Saget [who was starring on "Full House" at the time] walks down the aisle, rips open our curtain, and shouts, “Do you guys have any coke?!” Then he looks my dad in the eye, laughs, and closes the curtain. My mom was like, 'What was that all about?'"
And in case you were wondering if she and Savage took Cory and Topanga's onscreen romance off-screen -- they didn't.
"That rumor [that we dated] was entirely my fault because I once said, on The Tyra Banks Show, that Ben and I went on a date, and that turned into 'Danielle and Ben dated.'" she explained. "We went on one date, when I was about 15, and by the time the dinner was over we realized mutually that we were more like family than lovers." Boy Meets World star Trina McGee revealed in January that she experienced racism on set of the 90s show, from racial insults to 'cold' behavior.
Last month, Danielle Fishel, who starred as Topanga Lawrence on the show from 1993 until 2000, admitted she was the McGee referenced as being cold and that she apologized in May.
Fishel said that the incident occurred when McGee guest starred on the spin off series Girl Meets World in 2015.
Apologizing: Danielle Fishel, who starred as Topanga Lawrence on the show from 1993 until 2000, admitted she was 'rude' and 'cold' to Trina McGee when she appeared on Girl Meets World in 2015 (pictured in 2019)
'I owed @realtrinamcgee an apology for being rude, cold, & distant when she guest starred on GMW,' Fishel wrote. 'Her tweet regarding warm hellos being met with cold blank stares was about me.'
The 39-year-old revealed she spoke to McGee, who played Angela Moore on the show from 1997 until 2000, in May to apologize.
Adding: 'Trina and I spoke over a month ago and she gracefully accepted my apology.'
In January the 50-year-old actress said her 'happy hellos' were 'greeted with blank cold stares,' and that after more than 20 years she was 'feeling free' to discuss the 'disrespectful behavior.'
Graceful: 'I owed @realtrinamcgee an apology for being rude, cold, & distant when she guest starred on GMW,' Fishel wrote. 'Her tweet regarding warm hellos being met with cold blank stares was about me.' Adding: 'Trina and I spoke over a month ago and she gracefully accepted my apology'
Revealing: In January the 50-year-old actress said her 'happy hellos' were 'greeted with blank cold stares,' and that after more than 20 years she was 'feeling free' to discuss the 'disrespectful behavior' (pictured in 2019)
While speaking to Yahoo Entertainment last week, she said that Fishel explained her behavior by saying she was going through something 'personal' at the time.
In January, McGee also revealed she was called 'aunt Jemima' on set during hair and make up and a 'bitter b****' while rehearsing.
In April, she revealed that it was Will Friedle who hurled a racial insult at her on-set in an Instagram post.
McGee posted a throwback photo Thursday with Friedle, 43, for her roughly 14,500 Instagram followers along with the caption: 'FOR THE RECORD: WILL FRIEDLE the man responsible for AuntJemmagate, apologized to me 22 years ago and again days ago in a three-page letter.'
Teaching moment: The 50-year-old actress also said that Friedle, 43, apologized to her 22 years again and again days ago in a three-page letter for calling her 'aunt Jemima' on set
Apologies offered: Friedle, shown in October 2019 in New York City, apologized twice to McGee and she posted that she has forgiven him
'We talked more on it and he acknowledged that he really wasn't educated enough in his early twenties to know he was truly offending me. THIS SHOULD AND COULD BE A TEACHING MOMENT FOR ALL,' she added.
'For all people of all races or different backgrounds. He has conveyed to me how much this has changed his perception of comedy. And humanity. We all fall short of sensitivity at times, but let's be real on what EXTREME RACISM IS,' McGee further posted.
'He wrote a long email to me,' she continued to tell Yahoo of Friedle's apology. 'He said that it was a journey for him since that day that he had called me Aunt Jemima. And it was a journey of thinking about himself, thinking about what he’s been taught as acceptable to other cultures ... what might hurt people.'
Television sitcom: Fishel, McGee, Ben Savage and Rider Strong are shown in a 1998 still from Boy Meets World

Danielle Fishel looked gorgeous and svelte in a sleeveless ivory gown for her romantic Saturday wedding to Tim Belusko.
But still internet bullies criticised her appearance.
On Tuesday the actress - best known for playing Topanga on the long-running '90s show Boy Meets World - hit back during a Twitter rant. 'Ppl saying I was FAT @ my wedding: u r the worst kind of ppl on the PLANET,' the star wrote. 'I weigh 107 pounds & am 5'1". YOU are the reason anorexia exists.'
Still happy: Danielle Fishel, pictured the day after she married Tim Belusko in Los Angeles on Saturday, has hit back at internet critics who slammed her wedding day weight
The actress, 32, went on to joke that she planned to return from her honeymoon weighing 299 lbs to spite her detractors.
'I hope you'll look at your own miserable lives and learn to stop judging others on their weight and looks. Love and happiness wins again,' she continued.
The petite star - who married the same weekend as her Boy Meets World co-star Rider Strong - also came under fire for tying the knot with a man who is 25, which is seven years her junior. T he couple met in a math tutoring group when Danielle returned to college aged 27.
'People are giving me s*** for marrying someone younger than I am,' she tweeted. 'Tim is mature, responsible, loving, & kind. Way to judge people, Internet.'
Newlyweds! The Boy Meets World actress, seen here with her husband outside the venue they tied the knot in, was also taunted for marrying a man seven years younger
Danielle and Tim married at Vibiana cathedral in downtown Los Angeles and the wedding was attended by Danielle's 'first' husband, her on-screen Boy Meets World love Ben Savage.
Fishel looked radiant in her form-fitting lace gown that showed off a tiny waist and toned arms.
In photos taken the morning after her nuptials - which she posted on Twitter- she appeared trim and tan in a black sleeveless sun dress that showed off her fetching legs.
'Love and happiness wins again!' Danielle joked she would return from her honeymoon weighing 299lbs to spite her detractors
This negative internet feedback comes just before Danielle is to start shooting her new TV series Girl Meets World, a spin off of Boy Meets World.
The show, which will debut next year, is set more than a decade after the original series ended, with her character Topanga married to Cory with whom she has two children.
The series revolves around the couple's 13-year-old daughter as she grapples with her friends, family and schoolwork.
Danielle assured her fans during a Tumblr post that the new program would feature 'familiar faces, familiar themes and familiar messages' from the original.
Biting back! The star, pictured here at Greystone Manor in Los Angeles earlier this month, argued that at 5ft1in she's a tiny 107 pounds
