A group of overweight people are entered into a weight loss/dance competition. Housed together for the duration of their time in the competition, the contestants are provided with a general fitness trainer, a nutritionist, a physician, and a costume supervisor. Each is also provided a professional dance partner/choreographer, with who he/she performs a series of dance routines in front of a panel of dance experts, who score the routines on a scale of 1 to 10. Each week, the averaged dance score for each contestant is added to his/her weight loss score (the percentage of weight loss for that week). The person with the lowest overall score for the week is eliminated from the competition until there is one contestant left standing, who is named Dance Your Ass Off champion.—Huggo
Yes, our society has not debased itself enough. This show is the Jerry Springer equivalent of the more popular and better done Dancing Shows. However, with morbidly overweight, incredibly annoying, bad acting people who DANCE!!. Please don't get me wrong, because I AM A PLUS SIZED FEMALE. However, it's insulting to see other women paraded like this. Well, anyone will do anything if they can get on a cable show nowadays. But to see the women in outfits that show every bit of flab is nauseating (the outfits would be revealing on a normal sized woman). No, they're not "sexy"!!! That's a myth. The fact that it's produced by a plus sized woman, or that they attempt to throw in a weight loss side issue doesn't make this show more watchable. Be ready to see 250-300 pound women jiggling, doing leg-splits in front of the camera, and attempting to make this attractive to the viewer. EEEEEEEEEEK.

However, each of the twelve contestants are also hoping to lose weight during the process. It premiered on June 29, 2009. The medical doctor is Rob Huizenga from The Biggest Loser. The season premiere brought in 4.3 million viewers making it the most watched show in history of Oxygen Network. In the judges panel are Danny Teeson, a lifestyle coach and dancing expert, actress Lisa Ann Walter, and professional dancer Mayte Garcia, who only appeared as a guest judge for a week in season 2.
