A former Playboy model killed herself and her 7-year-old son after jumping from a hotel in Midtown New York City on Friday morning.
The New York Post reports that 47-year-old Stephanie Adams jumped from the Gotham Hotel penthouse at 8:15 a.m. with her son, Vincent, amid an ongoing custody battle with her ex.
The mother-son pair was staying on the 25th floor of the hotel in a penthouse suite and were found on a second-floor courtyard landing, NYPD chief William Aubrey said during a press conference on Friday.
"Early this morning investigators located an individual whose attention was drawn to that same second-floor area when he heard two loud noises," Aubrey revealed, The Post reports. "His attention was drawn to that and he discovered these two deceased individuals."
Adams was reportedly engaged in a fierce dispute with estranged husband Charles Nicolai, a chiropractor who owns Wall Street Chiropractic & Wellness.
Sources close to the couple said that things were so contentious between the former couple that they would meet at the First Precinct in Tribeca to hand over their son, ensuring that "no violence [took] place" during their meet-ups.
Nicolai's lawyer had recently told Adams that she needed to hand over Vincent's passport.

Back in 2016, Adams celebrated 24 years as a Playboy centerfold after first appearing at Miss November back in 1992. The Post reports that she came out as the magazine's first lesbian centerfold in 2003, despite later marrying a male investment banker and Nicolai.
Adams won $1.2 million after successfully suing the NYPD for a 2006 incident during which she was reportedly assaulted by a police officer who claimed that she had pulled a gun on him.

Porn star Ryan Madison has been accused of sexual abuse by at least 10 co-stars who allege he used his wife Kelly to lure women in.
Madison, a porn veteran, runs Kelly Madison Productions, with his wife. On Tuesday it was claimed he is a 'serial abuser' who 'groomed' a number of women.
The adult movie star, 43, is said to have used an all female team 'to make him seem more trustworthy' before subjecting them to non consensual scenes.
Describing her scene with Madison as a 'horror movie' Kinsley Karter says she was just 21 when she says she was abused by Madison. She told The Daily Beast : 'There’s usually some type of communication before, but there was absolutely none at all.'

She describes the California home where they shoot scenes to be 'in the middle of nowhere', adding: 'The main reason I’m speaking out now is because I didn’t have any warning, and I want to warn other girls about him.'
One agent said: 'The girls can feel very isolated out there, way the hell out in the middle of nowhere, and he got increasingly rougher and increasingly intoxicated.'
Annabel Redd was one of the first woman to publicly accuse Madison, tweeting on June 5: 'do not watch my porn fidelity scene. that man violated my boundaries.'
Iranian-American Arabelle Raphael was 27-years-old when she says she 'was put in a nonconsensual race scene' and forced to 'put on a belly-dancing outfit'.

Madison's videos have more than 46 million views and he has won numerous industry awards.
One accuser, Lexi Lore, said she was just 19-years-old when she was abused by Madison. She said: 'Ryan Madison is so well-known as a rapist in the industry.'
Another, Jane Wilde, who was also 19 when she says she was assaulted, added: 'They had all women on set, so I felt empowered. It really made me put my guard down. Then I left the house of women. And that’s when it started to get very predatory.'
'It’s a strange dynamic when a guy is trying to hurt women and is using his wife to make him seem more trustworthy', she added.
Amber Addis said: 'It’s almost like you’re being groomed to get your guard down, because as soon as her husband arrives, she just disappears.'
Ryan and Kelly have not commented on the allegations. DailyMail.com has contacted the couple for comment.

UPDATE: Jesse Jane has refuted the police’s version of events, telling The Post exclusively that she was drugged.
Porn star Jesse Jane was busted for public intoxication earlier this month in Oklahoma after she was found drunk and soaked in urine following a college football game, police video shows.
Jane — whose real name is Cindy Taylor — was arrested on Nov. 10 after the showdown between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in Norman, where the 38-year-old was unable to provide cops with a number for someone to come pick her up after being spotted lying on a sidewalk, KFOR reports .
Police body-camera video obtained by the station shows the adult film star seated in the back of a police cruiser moments after being approached by police following Oklahoma’s 48-47 win in front of more than 87,000 fans.
“She p—ed her pants,” one officer said. “Do you want to search her?”
Cops tried to help Jane by asking her to provide a phone number for someone to pick her up, but she was unable to help herself, video obtained by the station shows.
“Jesse?” one cop asked the porn star, apparently recognizing the woman.
“I didn’t do anything,” she replied.
At another point, an officer flatly offered to call someone to pick Jane up so she could avoid a trip to jail.
“OK, yes, as long as you know I didn’t do anything,” she told an officer.
“No one is saying you did anything, we just need to know if we can call somebody,” the cop replied.
“What number do we need to call for you?” the cop continued.
“No, I’m asking you to give me a number,” an amused officer said.
The exasperated officer then asked Jane again for a number to call, video shows.
“I’m trying, but you’re yelling at me,” Jane said.
The porn star — clad in a crimson Oklahoma shirt — is then seen struggling to communicate as to why she didn’t have money to pay for a taxi to pick her up.
“I’m not making an excuse, I’m not,” Jane told the officer. “I have no reason to, I have no reason to lie.”
Jane, who had no phone or money on her at the time, then flatly told the officer to take her to jail.
“All right, you’re under arrest for public intoxication,” the officer replied.
Jane was later booked into the Cleveland County Jail on a public intoxication charge, KFOR reported.
Jane, meanwhile, told the station that she was drugged and was released by police once her claim was confirmed. Jane also did not spend the night in jail, she said.
Messages seeking comment from Jane and Norman police were not immediately returned Friday.
Photos and videos posted by Jane on Twitter earlier that evening show her complaining about the cold weather in Oklahoma and enjoying nachos and a pretzel with a friend.
“C-c-c-c-c-cold,” Jane said in one video . “I have crotch-bite. Not frostbite, crotch-bite.”
