Daily summary — 14/07/2026
• The U.S.-Iran escalation dominated the day: CENTCOM said it hit more than 300 targets over three nights and carried out another wave against Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas to reduce Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping. Iran replied with missiles and drones, raised the toll to 14 dead and 78 wounded, and damage was reported in Omidiyeh, near the Bushehr plant and at the Khondab nuclear site.
• Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted, and Tehran announced the waterway would remain closed until the U.S. military intervention ends. The UAE said the tankers Mombasa and Bahia were hit by two Iranian cruise missiles in Omani waters, killing one crew member and injuring eight; Jordan confirmed three missiles landed without casualties, Kuwait reported attacks on border posts and an oil platform, and Qatar temporarily suspended navigation.
• At the NATO summit, Donald Trump attacked Spain, calling it a “terrible partner” and “a lost cause,” and repeated that he does not want to do business with the country. He also said the ceasefire with Iran is over and suggested a “big” strike on Tehran, while Pedro Sánchez later described their conversation as cordial and focused on football.
• Fighting continued in Anéfis, Mali, between the Malian army and the Russian African Corps on one side, and Tuareg fighters from the Azawad Liberation Front together with JNIM on the other. A second convoy left Gao to reinforce the area, but attacks on that column and airstrikes on rebel vehicles and groups continued, with greater air support from drones and aviation.
• Outside those fronts, Pakistan said it killed five suspected BLA members in Balochistan and that more than 100 suspected insurgents have died in the past week. The United States also canceled consular appointments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai because of the regional security situation, while Russia kept striking Kyiv, Odesa and Crimea and Sudan sentenced Hemedti to death, as the EU banned Sudanese gold imports.
