Dahab enchants with a lively hot-spicy opening, where a tingling zesty citrus and light incense set the stage for a unique interplay of heat and coldness. The heart unveils a seductive oriental composition where the overdose of creamy benzoin melds with burning woods, softened oud. As the spices persist, the elusive oud facet retreats in the drydown, leaving an alluring and lingering trail. There is a market here in Kuwait called Souq Sharq, named after the desert wind that blows from the East Chergui, pronounced Sharqi, is named after it. The air around the souq is redolent of spices and incense — shopkeepers burn incense in doorways. The market sits right by the sea and on emerging from the souq, with the scent of incense wafting around, you are hit with the rich, briny, ozonic scent of the sea. Dahab is on the money. I love the shit out of this scent. I grew up next to the ocean. Totally transportative. That fresh fizzy ocean breeze comes smashing off the top and then pops up mysteriously as with a change of the winds in the dry down. But cold ocean air in the scent moves brilliantly in an out of a spicy gourmandish ensemble of warming, mouth watering, celebratory feast. This is one of those niche scents that is worth the price tag. I hope they always make it. This is also an amazing store. The coolest place to shop for scents ever. And the sales people are experts. Super cool people. This is fantastic fragrance. Dare I say masterpiece. Everything is blended beautifully. One of my best purchases of Almost like thick tar meets heavy leather and they had a child. Warm, balanced, yet restrained, a leathery saffron pairs with the nutmeg to produce bustling dynamics. Dahab is the scent of burning embers, a charcoal fire wafting smoke through the winding alleyways of an exotic market, calling its morning patrons to wake and begin the day. Swirling in a halo of exotic spices, agarwood takes centre stage once the aforementioned notes wear down and Dahab becomes a pyre of burning bakhoor. I could have easily included Dahab in my Summer category due to the spicy heat reminiscent of hot Arabian nights! But I felt like the glowing spices and smokey nuances reminded me more of the fiery shades of the turning leaves of Fall. Smokey and sweet, almost mesquite. Sticky sweet Oud mixed with Smokey Incense and dry Woods. I would have preferred to smell even more spiciness to balance out the sweet Oud, but this scent definitely transports you to a far off land. Dahab is a leather backpack full of oriental spices, with a vanilla scented love letter hidden somewhere. The vanilla note makes this very interesting to my nose because it is a very counter-intuitive occidental vanilla that characterises what is in general an oriental voyage perfume.
