From the social sciences, students gain insights into human behaviour and the workings of our social, political, and governmental institutions. This major is grounded in dendrology, silviculture, soil and is then combines with socio-environmental studies that focus on forest management and environmental conservations. Major subjects for education are as follows. In wood or eco-friendly material science, the courses of wood anatomy, physics, wood preservation technology, wood drying, engineered wood, wood-based structural materials, wooden house construction, furniture design, and wood protection against fungi and fire are offered. After successful completion of the program, most of the graduates get their jobs in the area of their major, and enjoy their outstanding career. CJ Corp. Applied biology is the basic study of life phenomenon of various crop resources and organisms such as insect, fungi, bacteria, virus and the search for the efficient use of resources and demonstration of the relationship between the environment and organisms. This is designed to study environment-friendly biotechnology and is a field of applied science that stabilizes the harvest of crops and maximizes the production of crop resources by establishing the integrated pest management IPM to prevent or heal the damage of harmful insects and plant pathogen. The curricula consist of basic programs and applied courses. In the former programs, students learn physiology and the pathologic phenomena of plants, insects, and microorganism, and taxonomy, ecology, physiology, heredity, pathology of the harmful organisms that damage crops, based on which students do practical research by the high tech biotechnology of biochemistry and molecular biology. The applied courses provide the science to prevent plant diseases, manage the control of vermin, the efficient resources of bacteria and insects, studies of beneficial bacillus, insects and resourceful plants. By introducing beneficial resource plants and genetic engineering with biotechnological techniques, this program teaches how to prevent vermin, to preserve the environment and to improve it. Graduates may work as researchers in applied biology-related fields or have jobs in the research institutes of agricultural firms. In addition, they may take charge of technological development and distribution at general agriculture-related conglomerates or small and medium-sized companies. They may also continue studying at graduate schools. Recently, animal and dairy sciences have been extended from traditional farm animal like cattle, pigs, chickens, etc. Overcoming the limitation of the early industry, animal and dairy sciences have changed as a comprehensive industry that now embraces the industry of processing and distribution. The area of animal and dairy sciences studies has been enlarged and specialized through improving production and inventing new functional materials by the automation of equipment, and bioengineering technique. The purpose of these studies is to accept the change of the new era, to develop studies of animal and dairy sciences and animal industry, and to encourage excellent individuals to work in the practical industrial sites.
