Robin Price said the decade-long affair just 'snowballed' - but it all came back to haunt him when his own daughter shopped him to the police
FOR almost 30 years, incest dad Robin Price thought he had got away with starting a family with his own sister.
But one day, in early 2015 that all changed, as his past finally caught up with him in the most devastating manner, with a knock on the door from the police.
Robin learned that his own daughter had reported him to the authorities in disgust after learning that the people she called mum and dad were half-brother and sister.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the 62-year-old admitted he never thought that day would come.
He said: "I can't understand why it's all being brought up now.
"We separated and moved on, I thought everything was fine."
Daughter Donna yesterday told The Sun how the revelation has ruined her memories of her childhood - and to add insult to injury she learned in the course of the court case that Robin wasn't even her biological father.
But her two sisters and brother, who tragically died when he was just seven-years-old, were all the products of the incestuous pairing.
Robin today claimed he didn't know Donna's mother, who we are choosing not to identify to protect her young children from a subsequent relationship, was his sister when they met.
Having grown up not knowing his mother, or even that he had a sister, he said he was raised by his father.
But his life changed when he met a young woman in a pub in the 1980s, saying the pair just "hit it off".
He said: "When we met, we just fell in love and it snowballed from there.
"How can you not fall in love with someone, if you meet someone and get along, you’re going to fall for them.
"Looking at it now, then yes, it was wrong.
"At the time, to us, that was it, we was happy, we didn’t give a monkey about what anybody else thought."
As he spoke about the past relationship with his sister, Robin's confession of the sordid relationship came tumbling out.
Bowing his head as he tried to remember details about the sordid relationship, he said: "We met one of my aunties and she kept looking at both of us.
"She said, ‘you know something? You two are brother and sister’.
"I said, ‘oh yeah of course we are’.
Shaking his head, he added: "I felt like somebody stabbed me.
"I just couldn’t believe it when we found out."
The pair then confronted his estranged mother, who confirmed their worst fears.
Faced with the choice of breaking off the relationship, Robin claimed he decided to stay in the relationship because his sister had just learned that she was pregnant, with Donna.
Pushing the truth to the back of his mind, he said the couple then went on to have three more children together.
He said: "It went through our minds once or twice to tell the kids, but by that time, we had said 'that's it'."
The strain of having his family's murky history examined for the past two years by police before going through the courts has taken its toll of Robin.
The currently unemployed warehouse worker now lives with his new partner in a small flat in England's south.
The flat is decorated with photographs of his new partner, with the only hint at his former life a photograph of his youngest child Steven.
The boy was only seven-years-old when he died in 2001, having suffered from severe epilepsy throughout his life.
It is an offence for a man and woman to have sexual intercourse with a sibling, grandparent, parent or child.
According to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the maximum penalty for sex with an adult relative is two years' custody.
Incest by a male person can lead to life imprisonment if the victim is under 13, otherwise those found guilty can be sentenced to seven years behind bars.
Holding up the only photograph he has of his son, Robin said he had done everything to help his sister raise their child, even after they separated in 1994.
But after Steven's death, the pair went their separate ways - only seeing each other again as they faced court over incest charges last month.
The pair, who had been reported by police by their eldest Donna, both pleaded guilty to the charges.
Robin had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge, explaining: "I suppose in one respect we thought what we had done wasn't wrong."
But changing the plea to guilty, he said he had been "absolutely dreading" the sentencing, with fears he could be jailed for seven years.
Instead, the judge handed down five and three month suspended sentences for Robin and his half-sister respectively.
Now estranged from Donna, Robin said he hoped to one day rekindle his relationship with them.
He said: "I don't think about the relationship anymore, but I do miss the kids."

Eight years after Mackenzie Phillips revealed that she was once in a long-term incestuous relationship with her dad , her family relationships seem to be irrevocably damaged.
The former One Day at a Time star exposed in her first book, High on Arrival . the long-held secret that her dad, The Mamas & the Papas singer John Phillips, raped her at age 19 while they were under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The encounters continued, and they soon began a consensual, incestuous relationship lasting around 10 years.
In her new book, Hopeful Healing: Essays on Managing Recovery and Surviving Addiction , Phillips says that some family members still hold her accountable, and at one point disinvited her from a birthday party.
“Another family member was angered that I might attend, and I was told she was just not willing to forgive me yet. She wouldn’t forgive me ! For abuses perpetrated against me as a child, or for exposing those abuses perhaps,” she writes.
Phillips, a former drug addict who is now a drug rehab counselor at Breathe Life Healing Center, says that rather than holding on to the pain of being shunned by her family, she reaches out to her own counselor and loved ones for support.
“I’ve come to understand that some in my family have chosen to hold on to the pain and anger they felt when I came out with the truth about my dad,” she says. “I understand that they’re still caught in a textbook response of devaluing the victim and holding up the perpetrator.”
“I’ve also had to accept that, of course, I’d be the target of negative reactions and feelings because I’m the one who wrote the book and told a truth no one wanted to hear. If you’re trying to maintain some sort of façade so you can avoid pain, the last thing you want is for the façade to be demolished.”
When Phillip’s first book debuted in 2009, multiple family members spoke out against her — some accusing her of lying, while others were upset that she revealed a hidden family secret when her father, now dead, was unable to provide a counterpoint.
“Am I exceedingly joyful that my family secret that I told maybe my therapist, my husband and my very best friend in the whole word [is now public]? No,” Phillip’s half-sister, Chynna, told Oprah Winfrey on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show .

“I understand Mackenzie’s need to come clean with a history she feels will help others, but it’s devastating to have the world watch as we try and mend broken fences, especially when the man in question isn’t here to defend himself,” another of Phillip’s half-sisters, Bijou, said in a statement.

There are definitely lines that should never be crossed between parent and child. Dating or having a romantic or sexual relationship is at the top of the list — that's sexual abuse , no matter what age.
We trust parents to set up boundaries for their children. They have more power in the relationship and must be held accountable for their actions more than the child.
However, one father who goes by "Dave" decided to admit online that he abused his pregnant 19-year-old daughter by having a sexual relationship with her.
" Her mother died in labour, and I have been her sole caregiver, and she, my sole companion, until she was 18 years old and left the house to move in with her steady boyfriend. We have an excellent father and daughter relationship ," he writes on Reddit .
Sounds more like a grooming situation than a "companionship." But there's more: Her relationship with her boyfriend didn't work out so she moved back home. She then found out she was pregnant.
Three months into the pregnancy, her father installed a surveillance camera in her room after he noticed she was spending a lot of time alone in there.
He then saw her masturbating. Instead of respecting that she's a normal human being who should have her privacy, he started abusing her by initiating a sexual relationship with her.
" We had a mutual agreement to have a long-term sexual relationship with each other for as long as we were contented with it. She told me that having sex with me felt no different or more perverse than having sex with her ex-boyfriends. In fact, she had never felt safer and more loved ," he continues.
He also writes that she's mentioned wanting to have a child with him one day, to which he responded, "We'll see how it goes after she has delivered her baby."
The only selfish concern the abuser seems to have about the situation is that he'll lose his daughter if the sexual relationship ends.
The sickest part of it all is that he seems to be asking for advice on how to prevent this, not what he should do for her well-being or the effects this relationship might have on her. How thoughtful.
" Even the most loving of couples may one day split and go separate ways. If that should happen to us, I fear that I will lose my little girl. I would be happy to let her pursue a new life if she leaves me for a better man. But if she decides to erase all the memories by disregarding my presence, I will be crushed. "
He goes on: "I see myself as a father before her lover, and I would do anything that is best for her. I have spoken to my daughter on this matter, and she resolutely says that Daddy is all she ever wants ."
This is definitely NOT love by any means; this is a seriously gross abuse of power by a parent, and a reminder that there are truly gross people in the world.
As a parent, your job is to protect your child, NOT exploit them. And this father more than crosses that line between parenting and abuse.
Hopefully, his daughter gets the help she needs.
