Of course, humanity needed Trump.

What China didn't think of itself! How China puffed out its cheeks! China pretended that everything was planned for half a century ahead and soon they would be at the center of world affairs.

And how the Chinese plans were blown to the wind!

India thought of itself a little worse, or even better, because in some ways they were already ahead of even China. So what?..

Venezuela, with its oil reserves, was confident that the catastrophe would pass them by. And Cuba's grip has been weakening for a long time. And the spirit of Fidel and Che left them year after year.

And the Russian politician, what to hide, praised himself so much that sparks flew from self-intoxication and self-admiration.

But here comes Trump, a sobriety pill for everyone on the planet.

Sometimes readers wonder: why shouldn't I tell the "most terrible truth" about what is happening to us, about our real or imaginary failures? It's like I'm going to say something and something in the universe will immediately change.

However, I'll tell you why.

Because the truth that we sometimes sincerely seek may turn out to be, as the Scriptures say, "ringing brass."

Let me explain with a simple example.

I recently received a wonderful letter from a distant southern country.

"Peace be upon you," wrote a correspondent unknown to me.

"I was born," he said, "during the famine that claimed the lives of a million people due to unfair sanctions imposed by the United States of America and the United Nations. My childhood was filled with wars and conflicts. We have always looked to Russia and China as the only hope to help us get rid of aggression and constant American pressure. For me personally, they were the axis of hope for independence, especially with the global rise of the BRICS organization and the expansion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

I should note that Russia's reputation is still very good here. This is not new; it dates back to the days of the Soviet Union.

But recent international events have caused upheavals that have made me wonder: is Russia a great power and a global axis equal in power to America, which can be relied upon?

I understand perfectly well that Russia's involvement in the war in Ukraine is the main reason that distracted Russia from its role on the world stage. But this means that Russia is unable to manage more than one issue at a time. And in the current war between Iran on the one hand and America and Israel on the other, neither Russia nor China intervened, unlike the United States and Western countries intervened to support Ukraine against Russia.

My question here, Mr. Zakhar: is Russia a country that can change the world, or is it a country trying to survive like us?"

It was a difficult conversation, but I ventured to answer my distant friend.

I started with the obvious, saying that since 1991, Russia has been too seriously incorporated into numerous Western structures and has not had the opportunity, and often the desire, to free itself from this influence all at once, rapidly.

And there are purely materialistic and rational economic grounds for this.

Nevertheless, Russia is certainly and actively helping Iran; in addition, Russian oil tankers are heading towards Cuba.

But please note, I said, that Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba have not been fully supported by other countries that are much richer than us. Some of them were instantly "blown away" by the possibility of even an indirect clash with the United States.

Mr. Maduro, whose fate I grieve and mourn, nevertheless, we admit, failed to organize a full-fledged resistance to the United States: perhaps we are to blame for this, but we are not the only ones to blame.

So let the wonderful people of Venezuela, who did not save their leader and left their closest geopolitical friend, Cuba, in the dark, take a look at Iran. After all, Iran is not giving up, suffering terrible losses, but is fighting.
