WORK EXPERIENCE

PJSC Sberbank | Moscow, Russia                                                           Feb 2016 – Present

A state-owned Russian banking and financial services company, headquartered in Moscow.

Program Director

·      Planning, leading, and managing strategic projects and solution programsfor the Bank.

·      Developing strong partnerships across the company and leveraging them to drive the vision of projects and improve processes at a strategic level.

·      Developing the Bank’s new technological platform (Data Factory), including a Big Data platform with a Hadoop cluster at its core.

·      Leading 30+ ongoing projects (40+ more in the pipeline):

-  Infrastructure projects: aimed at improving the infrastructural components of the bank’s data platform. Involves upgrading existing components and platforms (e.g. ADWH, ODS, network) and building new components (e.g. data lake and laboratory Hadoop clusters, virtualization platform).

-  Data acquisition projects: aimed at pulling data from hundreds of banks' data sources into a data lake and EDW.

-  Business projects: aimed at building business applications, data marts, reports, and analytical models.

Accomplishments:

·      Designed New Sberbank’s EDW and analytical platform, Data Factory. As a result:

-  Petabytes of data (including transactional, streaming data) from dozens of data sources became available for business purposes - decision makers, business analysts, data scientists, and modelers now get actual data in minutes out of days.

-  TCO of the bank's data infrastructure decreased by at least 30% and it became possible to develop solutions which use ML/AI techniques because of the high data availability and quality we achieved during the program.

·      Developed and Implemented a three-year program roadmap for new data and analytical applications and services. As a result:

-  BU's revenue increased by 70% due to a faster decision-making process, targeted marketing, and new business cases.

-  IT operational costs decreased by 30% due to process automation and a more efficient use of personnel.

-  T2M significantly increased - from 18 months to three months for building a new data mart, from 12 months to three weeks for new data source acquisition, and from four releases a year to weekly releases for business applications.

·      Implemented a DevOps framework and a corresponding process.

PJSC MegaFon | Moscow, Russia                                                          Jul 2013 – Jan 2016

The second-largest mobile phone operator and the third largest telecom operator in Russia and works in the GSM, UMTS, and LTE standard.

·      Managed the company’s BI roadmap program. Drove the vision and planning for a range of assigned projects.

·      Managed project schedules, identified risks and clearly communicated them to project stakeholders.

·      Led Big Data projectswith completely new infrastructures: Hadoop cluster, dev and UAT clusters, an analytical DW on top of Teradata Appliance, a new CEMsystem, VM cluster and a data storage, DPI complex, Complex Event Processing system, DevOps framework) from scratch and integrated it with existing infrastructure:EDW - Oracle-based, CRM, Siebel CRM, and core network.

·      Led projects to implement a number of analytical services: scoring service, geolocation service, product recommendation service, social network analysis, and client network experience.

·      Coached, mentored, and managed a solutions delivery team in the creation of estimates, scopes of work, and project timelines.

Accomplishments:

·      Successfully completed and realized a BI roadmap which led to the development of competitive analytical solutions and revenue growth (more than 1% of company’s OIBDA in 2015).

·      Developed a new full stack team of system engineers, DBAs, and data scientists, from four to 40 people, within two years.

·      Implemented a Client Network Analysis service which detected and analyzed network failures and customer service degradation and built an analytical model in order to predict such failures.

·      Implemented a Scoring service and Geo Location service to eight clients, including a top-1 Russian bank, Moscow Region Government.

·      Built a Complex Event Processing system in two years, from scratch and ran to production. This system was able to handle a 40 million MegaFon’s subscriber base and manage 40K events per second (location updates, payments, calls, and other subscribers’ activity). The system paid off in the first year, with the marketing segment program revenue increasing by 114% in 2014 (Y2Y) and 30% in 2015 (Y2Y).

·      Developed and implemented an Analytical Solution Delivery Project (~10.000 hours) for MegaFon, Russia which analyzed the changes in activity patterns of MegaFon’s social media subscribers in Moscow. As a result, MegaFon became able to predict subscribers’ churn and decreased it by 10% in 2013.

·      Developed and implemented an EDW Platform Delivery Project (~12.000 hours) for customers in the gas industry in Russia. Successfully installed an EDW platform and ran PoC.

·      Built and presented to the NEC sales team a Femtocell Service Activation Module (SAM) development project (~6.000 hours) for 'Network Norway', Norway. As a result, Network Norway became the first mobile operator in Europe to launch a femtocell, attracting new customers and subscribers through better network coverage and fixed-mobile convergence.

·      Built, ran, and integrated a converged real-time solution (1200 hours, 15 people) for three million subscribers for start-up GSM operator, Spice Nepal Private Ltd., Nepal.
