OVERVIEW OF DIRTY NASTY FILTHY HEARTS

Dirty Nasty Filthy Hearts is a trick-taking card game for 4 players. The goal of the game is to have the lowest score when a player reaches a score of 300.

SETUP

Cards are dealt clockwise and face down. The first dealer is determined randomly then it passes to the left for each new round.

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals each player a hand of 13 cards.

After hand are dealt each round, players will pass 3 안전놀이터. The dealer calls for how the cards will be passed. Any variation can be used such as 3 to the left, 3 to the right, 1 to the left and 2 to the right, etc.

There is also a special passing called Shitting in the Kitty. In this pass all players choose three cards to pass face down to the center. All 12 cards are collected and shuffled by the dealer who deals each player 3 cards from it.

GAMEPLAY

Once all cards are dealt and players have arranged their hand accordingly, the player with the two of clubs goes first.

All players are required to follow suit if capable. In Dirty Nasty Filthy Hearts, there is no trump suit. The highest card played of the leading suit wins, and the winner gets to begin the next trick. If a player is unable to follow suit, they can play any other card in their hand. This is a great opportunity to get rid of any high cards, to prevent winning unwanted suits. The only exception is that no scoring cards can be thrown out in the very first trick, however, they can be thrown in any trick thereafter, as long as the player is void the suit currently being led. There is a variation that allows for any card to be played to any trick.

Players cannot lead with a heart until either a heart or the queen of spades has been played, however, the queen of spades can lead at any point in the game (except the first trick).

Players will continue playing until a player reaches a score of 300 or more points.

SCORING

This is a trick-taking game but the goal is to win a minimal number of tricks, or better yet, the goal is to NOT win tricks that contain any scoring card. At the end of each round players add up the number of scoring cards, and add that to their score. Remember, the objective is to have the lowest score.

The jack of diamonds is a special card sometimes called, the lil man, or the cake daddy. It subtracts 10 from your score if won in a trick.

Each heart is worth 1 point. The queen of spades is worth 26 points and each other queen is worth 13 points each.

If a player ever wins all scoring cards in a round, also knowns as shooting, they win the game and the player to their left must leave the table to make space for a new player.

END OF GAME

Once a player reaches 300 or more points the game ends. The player who has the lowest score wins the game.
