It's possible to meet someone and feel like you've known them your whole life. Often, this just means you're comfortable in each other's company.
Sometimes, though, it can be a sign of something more sinister — particularly if someone you're dating is professing their undying love for you when you've only known them for five minutes.
Narcissists sometimes engage in " love bombing " — pretending to be everything you've ever wanted, only to turn it back on you further down the line. It's a manipulative tactic to reel in their targets. First, they shower them with affection and gifts. Then, they start gaslighting and abusing their victim , causing them to wonder what's real. It's all part of the plan to gain total control .
Although there's no global summit for all dark triad people to get together and discuss their tactics, they do seem to operate in a similar way.
"It's like they read from the same manual, even though nobody gives them that manual," psychologist Perpetua Neo, who works with victims of narcissistic abuse , said. "They're almost programmed in the same way."
There are certain phrases narcissists use, and ways they express things, that are eerily familiar to anyone who has ever dealt with one.
Here are some of the most common things they might say, and in what stages of a relationship to expect them.
Relationships with narcissists move very quickly. Neo said some people simply do mesh really well, because they have similar interests and complement each other's differences.
"But anybody who tries to do it too quickly early on is basically accelerating intimacy, and that is bad news," she said. "Anybody who has to do that suggests they are doing something a bit creepy."
In the first few weeks narcissists will say things like:
"I've never met anyone like you before."
"You understand me so much better than anyone else."
"I've never felt this way about anyone before."
"Am I your only friend? You're my only friend."
"You're so kind, creative, smart, beautiful, and perfect."
Once a narcissist has hooked their victim, they start showing their true self. This is where the insults and put-downs start slipping into what they say. They suddenly criticize things about their partner that they once seemed to love — everything they say is part of their scheme to shatter their partner's confidence.
But all the nastiness is intertwined with some affection, because the narcissist knows they have to keep up the illusion that the relationship is worth saving. By pretending they can still be loving, the narcissist makes their victim believe the insults are their own fault.
During this phrase narcissists may utter some of these things:
"My friends hate you, but I always defend you and have your back."
"Aren't I more important to you than your friends?"
"Your tears won't work on me. Why are you crying?"
They will also probably start explaining away their behavior if they are ever challenged on it, saying things like:
"I'm like this because my parents were so mean to me."
"Love is just hard. We have to work on it."
"Everyone abandons me, so you have to help me."
"I'm acting this way because I'm scared to lose you."
"I don't do it on purpose; I have a problem."
"Don't you remember how good things were at the start?"
"You need to stop being so selfish/careless/busy with other people."
"You can't blame me, you know I have a problem."
They'll also try to devalue everything their victim loves, such as their interest and hobbies — even their family. They'll insult everything they can, saying things such as:
"I don't like your friends — they're not good enough for you."
"I can't believe you enjoy doing this."
"Your family doesn't like me. You probably shouldn't see them as much."
"If you leave and see your friends, I'll be angry."
Narcissists also play to their advantages, especially if they are older than their victim or they did them a big favor, like bringing them over from a foreign country. Whatever they can play on for superiority they will leverage and use to subvert the other party.
They'll assert their authority by saying:
"I've been through more relationships, so this is why I'm saying this."
"You can't wear that, because I said so."
"You know I'm smarter. You know I know more about this than you."
"I'm the local here, I know better."
If the victim dares to tell anyone about how they are being treated, the narcissist makes sure they are punished by making their life even more miserable. They say things like:
"Since somebody has found out, I'm going to get worse."
"Because you broke my trust, you have to earn my trust back."
When a narcissist has completely worn their victim down, they may tire of them. It might be because they've bled them dry of funds, or they've simply found someone new to abuse. Either way, at this stage their insults will reach the worst level, and they'll find more ways to tear their partner down, ensuring they leave the relationship as the "winner."
They'll hurl poison at their victim, such as:
"Have fun being alone for the rest of your life."
The only way to escape a narcissist's insults and threats is to get away from them, and run fast and far, Neo said. They keep their victims in a constant state of stress, and they know exactly where to dig the knife in deeper.
"So you are just kept on your toes, and bending further backwards like a dancing monkey," Neo said. "And nothing will ever change — things will just get worse."

I have returned to my first CYOA and tried to fix two of the biggest complaints: awful graphic design with too few illustrations, and being forced to play as a woman. Changelog from the first version: numerous assorted minor wording tweaks, two new Perks (Double Route, Marvelous Talent), two new Flaws (Ghost In The Flesh, Unattractive), and a DLC focused on being a villain rather than a villainess.

This is a big cyoa with a lot of options and nice writing.
Just letting you know that I appreciate it before I state that it's my will to piss of the Will and the meta-designers as much as possible before they just decide to teleport me to some hell dimension.
Color: Silver: Heightend magical edge.
Race: Human. Because I'd rather let a cow with the shits face sit on me to death than become a disgusting elf. Even if it's an not-elf elf.
Role: Rich Heiress. Just so I ain't got to worry about political complications or having the authorities go after me if I break from my role in some way.
Fiance: Prince charming: Easiest to manipulate because he was to be a goody two shoes and will probably want to do right by me even if he will ultimately betray me. He's probably also my best bet for the dude to be grateful if I decide to just step aside and let them do what they do.
Since he will understand he has done me wrong with his infidelity.
Nemesis: Poor Princess: Easiest to kill if I just snap and decide to pick-drop a live hand grendade or something. At least it will sastifactory. She is also the easiest to defeat by being nice. Since she will be wrapped up politics to care about me ultimately if I play my cards right.
Ending: Death. it's the closest I can go to basically calling out the will to come and get me themselves. Free perk.
Allies: Butler- Apparently he will rarely meddle in my affairs so I will worry less about him doing something stupid and making me the bad guy. That and he'll fill the "human" side of perspective I'll need-
AI: Immediatly set her to not meddle without first knowingly authorized by me in anyone affairs unless my safety is in danger, directly.
I'll need this for later too since it can hack stuff.
Easy Mode: I'm not going to deprive myself of stuff.
"Wake up! at ten years old and start learning as much as I can about the world and magic as I can.
Primarily I will be focusing on space ships and using my AI to search up and look up all sorts of space ships they think I might like a few years down the line. This will be my reward for dealing with this forced reincarnation and my "dream boat"
The little thing I'm going to stick on my wall to motivate myself through the bad days.
When I have found a boat I like I'm going to have my AI start scouring the net for anyone who references owning one of theses or is documented to own one of these. There's got to some sort of star ship registery of some form. So I have them hack that if able.
When I meet my fiance, I am going to basically bro it up with him. I'm not a noble so I ain't got to worry about some nobless oblige, or style shit. If my dad or mum give me crap for it I'll just only meet him in private.
Clue us playing video games and eating disgusting shit for laughs, like chugging black coffee and hot sauce and see who bails first from the spice. Ideally he'll see me as a funny, chill SIS but not marriage material or he'll just be off put by me.
Whatever. I know that my love for him is a manipulation anyway so I'll get over it. If we bro it up I'll use my growing world knowledge to try and nudge, nudge him towards political ideas. Mostly injustices and stuff that need big changes. This way him and his waifu will be caught in righting some big political wrong and I won't have to deal with them as much.

By now I should be at least 16, unless prince and bitch are more easy to influence than a sentient cock into a sock. I start stocking up on weapons and military gear.
Bit by bit. Nothing drastic and keep them in storage. I got two AI so getting them to find me a dealer on the dark web should be easy. If I'm a rich daddy's girl they're going to view me as a money sink anyway.
So stealth buying under those conditions should be easy. Hell, I can just sell half the crap they'll give me.
Finally at this point I'll amass a small, secret catch of equipment, tech and items. I'll use whatever magic I got to hide it further if I need to as well.
At this point nemesis will probably be entering the picture and when princes handsome collides with her. He'll goody two shoes about these injustices I tell him all about and basically step-by-step indoctrinated him into (benefits of having adult memories early. They're a dumb kid. I'm mentally aware of propergand and fanaticism) She'll fight against it and have to very slowly clear his head while at the same time trying to convince him every step of the way that she cares about whatever injustices it centers around.
or she'll get sucked into it because her pure little heart and denied royal responsbility will encouraher her to try and act out and use her royal position for "good"
I'll help them out in small ways from time to time. Give them a fist bump and "fight the power" of encouragement. AI should of found and tagged a version of one of those dream ships I want.
I also will sell all of my shit with the help of my AI in secret. Give me a neat little stack flow. I'll invest in some high interest bank or something while I'm 10 too by selling some stuff with the aid of my ai and butler.
Buy some humanoid drones. NOT CONNECTED humanoid drones. No internet connection to hack them. Not having my boys turn against me. Wire them up if neccesary and have my AI code and upload combat techniques to them.
Give my boys equipment and armor from my armory. Gear up my self.
Get a van. Generic looking van and go to location of easiest to acquire ship.
Knock knock. Metal men. Hands up. Nuts shrink. Hair stand. Bowels loosen. I'm taking your ship. At this stage my AI are preprogrammed to ensure my survival-or they should be- so the ship should of been checked over and over again for anything that can threaten my hold of it.
Tie up the guys and tripple check it. Physically and digitally. No shut down or self destruct. On the off chance there can be. I'll bring something that can fuck up incoming signals. There's got to be a device for that and my AI will know-or come to know of it-
Knock the owners out and place someplace random but far from any help, Make sure got nothing on them to call for help or get out. Literally leave them naked, even get my drone to check up their asses for good measure. Rip off, digitally burn, literally smash or dismantle any identifers on the ship.
Leave the owners a big wad of cash with a "I'll pay you back if I don't die in space" since I do feel sort of bad for them.
Use high tech to change my gender in space. Become dude. I'm bi-sexual now I guess but whatever. Space dick awaits, I suppose.
Go around the universe becoming the scavenger king and doing mercenary work with my metal boys. Nothing insane. Escort small ships, help out some stranded folks that sort of thing. My Ai's will help control and pilot the ship.
My butler will stop me doing dumb, evil stuff in space and become sort of wanted pirate lord.
Possible Endings: If things goe as planned.
Come back to find princess and prince chilling together, now as rulers and having fixed some serious bullshit on this planet. Maybe it's class inequal
