Cybersecurity Network Security Engineer:
- Experience - 10+ years!
- Certificates are a must.
- Network Security Fundamentals: Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, proxies, IDS/IPS, and encryption technologies.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in Linux, Windows.
- Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS): Experience with tools for IDS/IPS.
- Firewall Management: Configuration and maintenance of firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Network Protocols: Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and BGP.
- Threat Management: Ability to detect, prevent, and respond to various cyber threats (DDoS, malware, phishing).
- Vulnerability Assessment: Conducting regular vulnerability assessments.
- Encryption and Authentication: Knowledge of encryption standards (AES, RSA) and secure authentication mechanisms (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos).
- Compliance and Security Standards: Understanding of standards like ISO 27001.
- Incident Response: Expertise in managing and mitigating security incidents.
- Cloud Security: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and securing cloud environments.
- Network Monitoring: Knowledge of network monitoring tools (Wireshark, Nagios, Zabbix).
- VPNs and Remote Access: Expertise in setting up and securing VPNs for remote workers.
- Cybersecurity Certifications: Relevant certifications like CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or Cisco CCNP Security.
