In retail two rules should always sit in the back of your mind. 1. The customer is always right. If you want repeat business and your boss isn't an idiot, always adhere to this rule. 2. You are expendable and easily replaceable. If you don't like it, find a way to increase your value as human capital.

What I didn't expect, but quickly remembered from my college years, was what we all know—retail sucks. But why does it suck?
Customers are a large part of why retail sucks. My first hour no less than three people were in my way and could've moved (as I move for them and other employees) but NAH they're just going to act as if I don't exist and then take their SWEET ass time moving out of the way.

There's a lot about retail that sucks, especially the alienation, but what I hate the most is the shitty coworkers. I've been working at a small, upscale clothing store in an expensive tourist townfor about a year now. I've worked at a deli and bussed tables at a seafood restaurant before, but this is my first retail job.
