‘If you don’t know the past, you cannot understand the present. In the 19th Century, the national hero of Cuba, Jose Marti, travelled to Venezuela to support the country.
Fidel Castro’s first foreign visit after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution was to Venezuela.
Of course we strengthened cooperation after the Bolivarian Revolution, but relations between Cuba and Venezuela didn’t begin with the Bolivarian Revolution.
Now we are working with Venezuela on our bilateral relations without any external interference, as we never allow third countries to interfere in our internal issues.’
