Cuban border guards acted correctly on speedboat incident — Kremlin

The Cuban Interior Ministry reported earlier that a speedboat registered in the US state of Florida entered the island's territorial waters

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Russia considers the actions of Cuban border guards justified in response to a speedboat attempting to enter Cuba’s territorial waters, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"Cuban border guards did what they had to do in that situation," Peskov stated at a news briefing.

The Cuban Interior Ministry reported earlier that a speedboat registered in the US state of Florida entered the island's territorial waters. People on board opened fire at a Cuban patrol boat which returned the fire.

According to the ministry, four people were killed and six wounded among those aboard the US vessel. The commander of the Cuban border patrol vessel also sustained wounds.
