Crypto Journal - Privacy Policy

Crypto Journal - Privacy Policy

Checkpoint Software

Effective date: 5 August 2026

This privacy policy applies to the Crypto Journal Android application (package name com.checkpoint.cryptojournal) published by Checkpoint Software. Crypto Journal is a portfolio tracker, trade journal and market information tool. It is not an exchange and not a wallet, and it never has access to your funds.

The short version

Crypto Journal does not collect, store or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs. Everything you enter in the app stays on your device.

Data stored on your device

Your portfolios, trades, notes, screenshots you attach, watchlist, price alerts and settings are stored in a local database on your device only. We have no server and no ability to access this data. You can export it at any time (JSON backup or CSV) and you can delete it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

Network requests the app makes

To show market information, the app makes anonymous, unauthenticated requests to public data services: CoinGecko (prices and market data), alternative.me (Fear and Greed index), and public RSS news feeds (Cointelegraph, Decrypt). These requests do not include any personal information or identifiers beyond what any standard HTTP request contains (such as your IP address, which is visible to any website you connect to on the internet). The optional TradingView chart view loads the TradingView widget. Each of these third-party services operates under its own privacy policy.

Built-in browser

The app includes a built-in web browser powered by the Android System WebView. Websites you visit in it are subject to those websites' own privacy practices, exactly as in any other browser. Browsing data such as cookies is stored locally on your device by the system WebView and can be cleared through your device settings. The app itself does not record, transmit or analyse your browsing activity.

Permissions

INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: used to fetch market data, news and web pages. POST_NOTIFICATIONS: used only to deliver the price alerts you create; you can decline this permission. REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES: used only when you deliberately download an Android app file (.apk) inside the built-in browser and choose to install it; installation is always performed by the standard Android system installer after your explicit confirmation. The app never installs anything on its own.

Children

The app is a finance productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new effective date.
