In this project you will learn how to remove material from another shape using the hole feature.
It's time to create some holes, so let's get started!
Hint: You may need to scroll down the shapes list to find the Hexagonal Prism shape.
Now you have both your shapes, but you need to group them to remove the hole material.
Hint: If the Group was successful, you will see a Polygon shape has been removed from
the grey wrench.
Now you can make holes to remove material from your designs.

Modifier for creating holes from selected vertices or polygons.
Hi check jokermartini holex it is almost as good
been asking for this for nearly two years, fantastic stuff, thank you
Ooooh wait! can you do a 2015 version, am baffled it doesn't work in both
Hi could you make hole creator for older versions two?
Tried the Lite version then bought the Pro immediately. Great script and great time saver that paid for itself in a couple of minutes.

Note: To use a single sketch to position dissimilar holes, you can use a single sketch to lay out the position of multiple holes. Then share the sketch among several hole features. Sketches cannot be shared when creating the hole as an assembly feature.
From Sketch
Centers. Click to select endpoints, or center points of geometry as hole centers. Selects hole center points automatically. Displays a dynamic count of centers currently selected.
Linear
Face. Selects a planar face to place the hole.
Reference 1. Selects the first linear edge referenced for dimensioning the placement of the hole.
Reference 2. Selects the second linear edge referenced for dimensioning the placement of the hole.
Flip Side. Reverses direction of the hole.
Concentric
Plane. Selects a planar face or work plane to place the hole.
Concentric Reference. Selects the object referenced for the placement of the hole center. Choose a circular edge, or cylindrical face.
On Point
Point. Selects a work point to set as the hole center.
Direction. Specifies the direction of the hole axis. Choose a planar face or work plane that is perpendicular to the axis of the hole, or choose an edge or axis that is parallel to the axis of the hole.
Note: Fastener information can be included in hole notes in drawings.
Clearance Hole
Standard. Selects the standard for the fastener from a list.
Fastener Type. Selects the type of the fastener from a list.
Size. Selects the size of the fastener.
Fit. Specifies whether the type of the hole fit is Normal, Close, or Loose.
Note: If you use English units, the pitch is equal to 1 divided by the number of threads per inch.
Note: For English threads, the letter A represents external threads, and B represents internal threads. Use higher numbers for more accurate, closer fitting requirements. For instance, use 2B for screws, bolts, nuts, and other general applications. Use 3B for highly accurate and close-fitting requirements.
Note: Extend Start does not remove the fragment resulting from the creation of the hole on multiple bodies.

When creating holes, you first specify the type of placement, then the holeβs dimensions, drill point, termination, and thread type options.
To manage clearance data, Autodesk Inventor uses the Clearance.xls Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file, which is located in the Design Data folder. The Application Options or project settings affect the location of the spreadsheet file. You can change the order in the file so that the clearance you use most frequently is presented first. Edit the clearance spreadsheet and change the sort order number (from 1 to n) in cell B1 of each sheet to match your priority. To activate the new sort order, restart the program
(Optional) Select Extend Start to extend the start face of a hole to the first place where there is no intersection with the target body. Extend Start removes a fragment resulting from the creation of the hole. If the result is not desired, deselect Extend Start to undue the result.

Tekla Structures uses the same command for creating bolts, studs and holes. Before creating holes, you need to change some of the properties in the Bolt properties. If you want to create only holes, do not use any bolt elements (such as bolts, washers, and nuts).
You can create the following types of holes:
You can create a group of round holes, or a single round hole. Tekla Structures calculates the diameter of a round hole as the sum of Size and Tolerance .
You can create a group of oversized holes.
You can also use a negative value to create smaller (tapped) holes.
You can create a group of slotted holes.
Tekla Structures counts the pieces of steel from the head of the bolt down. For example, if you select the second check box from the head of the bolt, Tekla Structures slots the second piece of steel from the head of the bolt.
(1) Crossing slotted holes to odd or even parts
