“Nymphetamine (Fix)” is the 14th track on Cradle Of Filth’s 2004 album Nymphetamine . The title is a portmanteau of the words “nymphet,” highly alluring girls with sex appeal, and “amphetamine,” a drug that affects the nervous system which can be an addictive substance. It means a compulsion for/addiction to beautiful girls
The term nymphet comes from the novel Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, and specifically refers to prepubescent girls with sex appeal to the main character in that context. The main character is a pedophile, but the intent of the songwriters is likely to convey the compulsion they’re feeling towards their lover, not be a reference to pedophilia.

When was the last time you saw anyone in corpse paint smile? It's further proof of their flair for showmanship that two of the "slick perverted wraiths" in Cradle of Filth's 2004 publicity shot are flashing the pearly whites. The longstanding English group was never devoted purely to the black metal aesthetic; Dani Filth and his minions flaunted decadence amid their gravestones, and supported the usual atonal growls with the melodic gallop of metal traditionalism. This approach has always assured the listener a little entertainment with his fear, and Nymphetamine (what a name!) is no different. The laughably overwrought novellas of Damnation and a Day are gone -- Cradle's focusing on songs, not suites. Does this have anything to do with the band's new home at Roadrunner? The label is very good at encouraging the music to say hard while working to make it marketable, too; witness its co-branded Headbanger's Ball compilations. Whatever the reasons, Nymphetamine is an extremely entertaining album. Filth 's vocals shift between roof-of-mouth-tearing screams and primordial yowls; coupled with the oft-melodic guitar lines, Cradle can at times resemble any of the slogan T-shirted American post-hardcore units ( Used , for example). Thank the dark lord then that they don't forget their place. We don't listen to these albums to empathize with Dani 's pain; we listen because they sound like a play list on Pinhead's iPod. After a typically spooky intro -- picture black-robed choirs and gargoyles coming to life -- Cradle drops the hammer on "Gilded C***" (you figure it out), a muscular rocker with wind-whipping time shifts and lyrics you can actually understand ("My preference leans to killing you quickly/Scissored in the gizzard...."). Most of the album plays dueling power metal guitars masterfully off a slower or more gothic choruses. "Absinthe With Faust," for example, departs from its Metallica -type speed for a firelight reflecting in the catacombs interlude. Hello, my pretty. Other highlights include the rapid-fire "Medusa and Hemlock," a guest appearance from Leaves' Eyes chanteuse Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull, and "Filthy Little Secret," which is utterly cinematic in its orchestral, choral, and ultimately explosive scope.

This Cradle Of Filth album is just the absolute best album to me! Every song is so unique! some songs are more slow and calm while others are very kickass and nonstop like Gilded C*** and Coffin Fodder. My favorite song on the album has to be between Nymphetamine Fix or Absinthe with Faust but you really can't have a favorite because every song is awesome except Mother Of Abomanations I think is just another nonstop metal song. Be warned! Lol though the booklet has some very explicit pictures inside you'll find out when u buy it because you have to if u like cradle of filth at all this is just one album u have to get. I own the bonus version to and it's not really that great. It has a little more artwork and different pictures than this one and the bonus songs which arent tht great. Well I mean yeah some are good but its not the best edition but anyways buy this right now because this is an awesome cd!!!!!!!! but if any chance the bonus is cheaper well buy it lol :) but ur not missing out on much!

This is probably my favorite album by them. I know it's 12 years old but still holds a special place in my heart. Danni delivers the screeching goods and thunders low voices per usual. The songs on here just seem more catchy than their albums previously. It's dark, heavy, and full of synth just as you know them for but this album seems more memorable. Also there are lots of boobs in the booklet, so there is that lol! Seriosuly though, if you are a fan I think you'll really enjoy this hard hitting, mind crunching, and balls to the wall album.

Cradle of Filth is in a league all their own. They continue to prove that in this CD. This is a great Cd to listen to. Most metal bands i get bored with or they give me a headache about half way through it. I like the theatrical style COF presents their music in. To listen to them is like your listening to a fairy tale of horror. To me they dont need lyrics to be good. I dont listen to them for the lyrical content. I just like the music. Most of you may think i'm crazy with this review but this is just my opinion nothing more besides i dont care what anybody thinks anyway. If you have never heard this band try them out and see what you think.

Nymphetamine Fix alone is worth the price of admission. This is still one of my fave CoF albums. OK...don't play Gilded C with you're mother, auntie, sister, niece, SO in the same room and you're good to go. LOL But back to Nymphetamine..."overdose" & "fix" are both great. The rest? Classic CoF.

As promised new and sealed got it before expected

overall the album was good, considering it reminds me of some of his older albums. But the reason i gave 4 stars is because due to i guess the manufacturing of the cd, Not the seller's fault, the second album last three songs are unplayable. But i'll make due and the album is still good to listen too!!

Overall great record, a must if you are a cof fan!

Super surprised with quality. It's a really good album. Would recommend others to buy! 8.7/10

An excellent album by C

An excellent album by C.o.F. The newer albums by the band have had some ok moments mut overall are way too average in quality to rise among the best recordings by the band. Nymphetamine here is an exception. Nearly every track is catchy, heavy and the songs have a point. I personally recommend this album if you're going to buy a newer album by the band. That said, of cource everyone should start their CoF-collection with Dusk, Cruelty and Midian. But Nymphetamine is a very good album.
