Chongqing Normal University (hereafter as “CQNU”), founded in 1954, is a full-time comprehensive institution of higher education under the leadership of Chongqing Municipal Government of P. R. China. CQNU covers over 220 hectares and has 3 campus, one is located in Shapingba District, one is located in the Univerity Town, and the other is in Beibei District.
CQNU is a higher education institution authorized to award Master’s and Bachelor’s degree with the approval of the Degree Awarding commission of the State Council, P. R. China. Currently, there are 17 colleges, 45 master's degree programs, 47 under-graduate programs concerning literature, science, economics, management, art, physical education, etc., forming an educational system which is able to train postgraduates, undergraduates, associates and overseas students. Currently, there are over 30,000 students enrolled and over 1800 teachers including more than 500 professors and associate professors.
CQNU is entitled by the Ministry of Education, P.R. China to enroll overseas students. It was designated as one of the first Chinese Language Educational Centers by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and is currently the only one in western China. The university, featured in teachers’ education, has developed into a higher education institution of multi-subjects involving science and liberal arts. A fairly complete teachers’ education system has been formed including pre-school education, primary school education, middle school education, higher education, continuing education, vocational and technical education, special education, and teachers training for overseas Chinese language education.
Grasping the tendency of educational globalization, CQNU perseveres in the mode of “open university”. The university has successively established cooperation and exchange relationship with education institutions in over 20 countries such as USA, Russia, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Malaysia and Indonesia. It has set up institutions such as Teachers College of Chinese Language and Confucius Institute in Indonesia and Rwanda, etc.
CQNU attaches much importance to overseas students’ education and administration in a way of classified teaching and human-based management. International Students Office enjoys much popularity with overseas students as their home in China. Degree program students study together with Chinese students for a better integration of education. CQNU took the lead in Chongqing to set up International College of Chinese Language and Culture, providing better education and administration for Chinese language training students. The college offers favorable learning environment for the students to remove language obstacles as soon as possible with small-sized classes and special tutoring.

Chongqing Normal University (Simplified Chinese: 重庆师范大学) is a major public research university in Chongqing , China . Founded in 1954 as East Sichuan Normal School , it is one of the institutions of higher learning in the People's Republic of China and the top normal university in Chongqing, China. [1]
The university is composed of seventeen academic faculties that offer study in a wide range of academic disciplines for undergraduates and for graduates. Chongqing Normal University has three main campuses: the main campus University City Campus is located in Huxi Street, Chongqing High-tech Development Zone. In addition, Beibei Campus and Shapingba Campus are located in Beiquan Road, Beibei District and Tianchen Road, Shapingba District, Chongqing respectively.The Chongqing Normal University Library is the largest academic library system in Chongqing, holding about 20.4 million items, comprising 79 electrical book databases holding about 2.69 million items. Chongqing Normal University is entitled by the Ministry of Education， P.R. China to recruit overseas students. It was designated as one of the first Chinese Language Educational Centres by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and it was awarded the National Teaching Base for International Promotion of Chinese (Chongqing) by Confucius Institute Headquarters in 2007. The faculty of politics of Chongqing Normal University is one of the top political research institutions in China, and the dean of the faculty is concurrently served by Meng Dongfang, the president of Chongqing Normal University. At present, the faculty of politics of Chongqing Normal University has many teaching and scientific research platforms, such as the innovation and development center of Ideological and political education of the Ministry of education of China, Chongqing Research Center for civic morality and social construction, Chongqing theoretical research center for socialism with Chinese characteristics, Chongqing Civil Affairs Policy theoretical research base, Chongqing Yan'an Spirit Research Association, etc. [4]
The history of Chongqing Normal University can be traced back to the official East Sichuan Normal School founded in 1906. The first principal was Deng Ken, the younger brother of Deng Xiaoping , who served as Vice Mayor of Chongqing City and Vice Governor of Hubei Province. In 1960, Comrade Guo Moruo , then president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences , wrote the name of the school by himself. In 2003, Chongqing Normal University was officially renamed Chongqing Normal University approved by the Ministry of Education.

Life and study facilities are sufficient in its campus.
I always lover and feel interest about Chines langage and culture and I wish I could study and leave there to learn more about this beautiful country.
For the two months that i have been here,i have enjoyed the cooperation and assistance by the various departments that i have had dealings with;namely the International Students Office and the I.T office.
My best moments are a)Been picked up at the airport by the school vehicle. They kept their word.b)My first dinner at the campus restaurant.One of the students,though her English was not as fluent as she would have liked but she noticed how lost i was when selecting my first meal on a Chinese character written menu,walked up to me and even suggested a meal for a first timer in China.
My worst moments. I may not have a very bad moment considering my personality as i tend to be very patient. I have to say,though,that the Chinese really need to work on the spitting habit.This is not a trend in my University only but most of the places i have been to, people tend to have this habit,especially the over 30 years old bracket.It is very irritating,especially during meal times in restaurants.I am almost getting used to it now.
