Covid & Chill Orlando

Hi Chill Orlando furs. Our group, Chill Orlando, was started early in the process of furries migrating to a new social platform, Telegram, from various other previously popular platforms. We remain one of oldest (and perhaps the first) of the open-invite Telegram group chats for the Orlando and Central Florida furry communities. The guiding philosophy of a chill chat is intentionally simple: to maintain an open, inviting atmosphere for locals and visitors to casually meet and converse as free as possible from people losing their cool with one another. Rather than rely on a large complex set of rules which requires a vigilant army of moderators to enforce, we do our best to keep it simple, relying on and expecting all of YOU to help us keep Chill Orlando, well, chill.

The difficulties we have experienced throughout the Covid-19 pandemic have tested all of us in more ways than we ever cared to imagine. We mourn the loss of friends, family, and loved ones that have succumbed to this illness. Some of us now struggle with joblessness and other financial difficulties as a result of the ways life has changed. These and other unexpected changes and hardships have made it difficult for many to maintain that sense of chill we so long for again.

A new "normal” will ultimately emerge from this crisis. Slowly but surely each and every one of us plays a part in building and discovering that new normal day by day as we move forward, weighing everyday risks and making our own decisions informed by unprecedented access to information. The path will be rocky and uncertain at times but, as always, the unchangeable direction is always forward.

In accordance with our guiding philosophy of keeping things simple and chill we have little interest in day-to-day policing of much of what is discussed in this group provided the discussions remain civil. Our very few moderators have busy lives of their own to live and struggle, just as we all do, with the ever changing challenges in the world around us. They are and have been ordinary members of the community just like you. The moderators are not doing what they do here to be community leaders, influencers, educators, thought leaders, babysitters, nor are they responsible in any way for your actions in the real world.

We believe that you and you alone should be not only capable but responsible for making your own informed decisions about the risks and benefits of the ways in which you participate with the Orlando and Central Florida furry community both here and in the face-to-face world. We are here to facilitate that only though peaceful discourse.

We kindly ask that you help us by bringing the most chill version of yourself to this group. Please refrain from prolonged debates and avoid at all costs carrying out personal disputes or attacks in the group. Topics that are sexual in nature are not prohibited, however we ask that they not be excessively graphic in nature and restricted during typical business hours (7:00 am to 5:00 pm) so that Chill Orlando can remain "safe for work" for those that can and wish to participate while they work.

By participating in the Chill Orlando group, you acknowledge that your ability to participate is dependent only on your ability to abide by these principles while participating in the group. We will not take action based on any events, rumors, grudges, or disputes that occur outside this group. Moderators will not hesitate to remove you from Chill Orlando should you find it difficult to comply.
