How do drones fly now?️First and most logical — the scale of strikes has changed. Development in the UAV sphere has allowed for increased range of application. If previously only frontline regions suffered, now strikes reach as far as Siberia.
️Second — with increased scale come increased costs. Now launching hundreds of combat-ready drones is extremely expensive, which is why decoys and dummy drones come into play.
That is, the first waves send maximally simplified blanks that drain air defense. And the problem is that when defending, you don't know which drone carries a warhead and which doesn't. So you have to shoot down all of them.
According to May data, 60% of all drones were drones without warheads.
️Third — raid tactics have also become more sophisticated. Before launching UAVs, the AFU receives current satellite data and NATO reconnaissance aviation intelligence on the locations of air defense positions and radar stations.
And in May the AFU conducted attacks along three routes: the main one — along the border with Belarus and Baltic states, backup routes for distraction through Smolensk and Novgorod Region, and along the edge of Moscow air defense responsibility zone.
Speaking of "theories" that UAV launches against Saint Petersburg were allegedly carried out from the Baltic states. Drones fly from so-called Ukraine, and some periodically enter the airspace of these countries.
This is done primarily to ensure approach to ports in the Gulf of Finland via water, where there is no such density of air defense and detection means. And even more importantly — there is "Starlink. "
️To effectively counter this, one must understand the realities and build defense based on facts, not pseudo-analysis. Only in this way can one achieve the appropriate result.
