Aqua may not be the most competent party member, but her design gives cosplayers a lot to work with.
She may be bratty, she may only have one intelligence, and she may be useless, but somehow and someway that doesn't stop Konosuba 's premiere water goddess from having a loyal sect of followers. Even those outside of the fanatical Axis cult.
Around the world, several cosplaying fans have decided to worship Kazuma's Damegami (useless goddess) the only way they know how, by cosplaying her. Some of them so good that even a fickle goddess can't help but admire their attempts to look at act like her. The amount of work and effort put into these costumes more than enough to earn Aqua 's seal of approval.
Speaking of fans, here they are in the more literal sense. The water goddess is equipped with a twin pair of fans to capture the hearts and the minds of all those around her but that's putting it nicely. She just likes to be the center of attention.
Regardless, S Meriweather does a fine job at stealing the spotlight just like Aqua would with a great rendition of her outfit and her demeanor. The cosplayer every bit as energetic as Aqua can be in a good mood.
Aqua's job is to aid her allies on the battlefield with her powerful support and healing magic . Though that is a rather biased opinion and she just won't have it. A goddess like her is much more suited to wowing the crowd with her assortment of party tricks! Though, others might disagree.
Monako brings out the showwoman in this flighty goddess with her awesome cosplay. Seemingly commanding water around her to engross and entertain a crowd in this picture-perfect cosplay.
Quite literally, as a matter of fact. What better place for the goddess of all things H2O than in the middle of her preferred element.
The Cosplay Bunny is probably purifying the water as we speak. Obviously, she knows that Aqua's mere divine presence in bodies of water is enough to get rid of poisons, contamination, and all sorts of other nasty stuff in the water. Let's just hope that no monstrous alligators get near her.
Here we have Aqua and Megumin as charming maids . The Crimson Demon and Damegami duo seemingly ready to wait on their master hand and foot. At least, that's what it seems like...
In truth, Aqua and Megumin would be anything but (unless a certain someone has a choker that threatens to decapitate them if they aren't satisfied). Megumin would be too embarrassed to function in that outfit, and Aqua would act like she was in charge. Would Lysande and Gunaretta 's version of the characters follow suit? Cannot tell with those poker faces.
How useless is Aqua? Considering that she spends most of her time learning new party tricks instead of how to be a good Archpriest, pretty dang useless. It is to the point that if she were to be put on a scale from one to ten on how useless she is, she would probably break the scale. But we still love her regardless.
面饼仙儿 takes her most defining trait and channels it into a picture for everyone to enjoy. The Damegami lazing about in her natural state surrounded by more alcohol than she could handle.
Among her many vices, enjoying the occasional drink or two... or three... or a whole lot... is a favorite pastime of the water goddess. It is to the point where she might gain a subdomain in alcohol if she continues at this rate.
MiMi Malice gives us a picture that is authentically Aqua as anything else on this list. Obviously, she thought about what sort of picture would best represent our often drunk goddess and it looks like she completely nailed it.
This is pretty timely considering that Good Smile Company will release the figurine that this costume is based on sometime next month. Though, in the meantime, cosplayers are willing to fill in the gaps with cosplays that are as close to the real deal as they can get.
Stella Chuu seems to properly reflect the beauty and the um... grace the beauty of a goddess in the summertime. As an added bonus, she even remembered to bring Aqua's holy cloth that floats over her.
Aw... look at that. If someone didn't know any better that would think she was an innocent girl!
Of course, she can be anything but! Though, it is still lovely to see Aqua a bit more calm and relaxed than usual. Rureeeee using the goddess' outfit as pajamas for some outside nap time. Apparently, a nice glass of alcohol works just as good as some cookies and a warm glass of milk for Konosuba 's favorite Archpriest.
One word. Run! If the way the goddess' faithful act is any indication of how far this goddess will go to get someone to join her religion (read: cult ) then they better be prepared for an ordeal. That's if they don't hightail out of there the first chance they get.
Miih Cosplay summons up bad memories of swindles, ruses, and one particularly tricky little girl that make up the followers of the Axis cult. Needless to say, avoid signing at all costs!
No matter how good she is at purifying liquids into water, she just can't seem to avoid the bad effects of alcohol. Or maybe this is just her ability working overtime to get rid of any impurities in her drinks. Either way, it makes for quite the sight to see a supposed goddess barf all over the floor.

Aqua is the bratty goddess on Konosuba, and these cosplayers all capture her look so perfectly you'd think she came to life!
Konosuba is a massively popular title right now, and that is no coincidence. The isekai genre of anime is a popular one, and even newcomers to anime may find it appealing (especially since many other works of fiction use that premise too). In particular, the comedy isekai Konosuba is a cheerful parody of the whole idea, where every character is a total wacko, and the enemies are defeated in strange ways.
The core adventurers are the newcomer Kazuma (a total sleazeball), the bratty goddess Aqua , the stubborn witch Megumin , and the masochistic crusader Darkness (that's her nickname). Together, they have all kinds of misadventures, and colorful characters like these are ripe for fan art and cosplay of all kinds. Today, it's time to meet ten cosplayers who brought Aqua to life in stunning detail.
Update September 25th, 2020 by Louis Kemner: Even if there's no solid news on a third season of Konosuba, this parody isekai series is still going strong in the fandom, and the movie, Legend of Crimson, helped cement this franchise's lofty position in the comedy anime crowd. Aqua's goofy antics really keep the fans coming back, and to honor this hapless goddess, let us check out some more outstanding cosplays that fans will love.
Sometimes, cosplayers like to put their newest photos right next to an original image of their subject, so they can show everyone how close they mimicked all the details for reference. In this case, a cosplayer nailed every last little detail of Aqua's character.
All of the fabric and accessories in the cosplayer's outfit look high quality and very comfortable to wear, just like what a real goddess would wear. It must have taken some fancy stitching and tailoring to make it look that good.
For the sake of art, there is more than one way to cosplay as a character, and cosplayers can give their characters brand new costumes or accessories to spice things up. Some characters even get new color palettes or modern clothes.
This time around, Aqua has a vivid new outfit that's a variation of the original, with a lighter blue and a dark hue of green for the bow. For visual contrast, the cosplay posed before a sunny background of light brown and honey gold colors. She really pops.
The next entry in this gallery brings you an Aqua who's dressed down for a day off, wearing a simple black outfit and keeping her colorful attire in the closet for now. The dark clothes make for a neat contrast with her vivid blue hair.
Something funny must be going on, because this Aqua can barely contain her laughter. She's trying to look polite with that chuckle, but given her sense of humor, something pretty crude or ridiculous must be going on out there.
Aqua may be a bumbling goofball, and her powers are not always helpful for the job at hand, and she may be quite terrible with money (so far, she makes a bad case for herself). But on the plus side, Aqua has a gung-ho attitude toward finding work.
In this fun cosplay shot, the Aqua cosplayer really creates an authentic scene by running off into the jaws of adventure with her staff held high, dragging along a rather reluctant Kazuma behind her. How else will she pay off that tab?
For the most part, Aqua is more of an adventurer than a goddess, since she would rather chase gold and get quests done than visit temples and hear all her worshipers adore her. She loves getting attention from her Axis church, but for now, she wants quests.
Although Aqua isn't very good at adventuring, she is always up for a quest, and here, she and Kazuma do their best to show off their powers and impress anyone who might want to join their party.
Now this is the kind of goofy irony that only an anime like Konosuba could pull off. Megumin and Aqua are ready for a fun day at the pool, and they're in their best two-piece bathing suits, but Megumin has mischief on her mind.
These girls are ready for a party, and Megumin makes the first move: by shoving Aqua right into that pool. Both cosplayers have the perfect expression for this scene, and it's amusing hos Aqua's element, water, is working against her.
Aqua has a staff, and she isn't always seen using it, but that thing can be pretty useful. Aqua's main job is to purify water and exorcise evil beings with holy water, and she once purified an entire lake for a job (an agonizing process).
All that is embodied here, with a cosplayer wielding Aqua's staff and standing beside some noxious green water that could stand to be purified a little. Can Aqua get the job done and get paid for this particular quest?
Aqua is by the pool once again on a fine sunny day, and this time, she is more at ease. Instead of getting shoved into the water, she is striking a lovely pose on the edge, and she must be so happy, being in her element.
Meanwhile, this goddess is daydreaming about something, given that curious expression on her face. Maybe she got a new idea on how to complete a difficult quest, but it's anyone's guess whether she can pull it off. Her bright ideas usually just make things worse, alas.
The next entry on this list shows the more pious side of Aqua, and she hopes that one day, everyone will convert to the Axis church and worship her, too. As long as all the new converts sign the paperwork, that is.
This cosplayer chose a temple-like location for this shot, and that, combined with the "heavenly light" effect and Aqua's pose, makes for a fantastic fantasy scene. Based on that expression, Aqua is taking herself pretty seriously, even if Kazuma can't stand her.
It's fun to imagine the characters in fantasy anime pulling a reverse isekai and visiting the real world with its cars, computers, newspapers, etc. The reverse isekai genre is a strong one, and Aqua is ready to visit Kazuma's original realm.
She's settling in just fine, taking a seat at the back of the class with Darkness to her left and Megumin to her right. Back there, no one will notice if they decide to start doodling and passing notes until the bell rings.
Now this is a truly classic Aqua scene. During her adventures, Aqua likes to stick her nose where it doesn't belong, especially if money is on the line. She tends to act first and think later, and that's how she gets swallowed by giant frogs.
Aqua likes to find beautiful things while on adventures, but she tends to get eaten or blown up by them instead, and her happy expression (like the one pictured) tends to transition to shock and horror soon enough.
Aqua is not always a hapless bystander or dead weight when Kazuma and the gang are going on an adventure. Plenty of evil lurks in the world, from ancient curses to the shambling undead, and it's up to Aqua to make things right.
In this cool cosplay shot, Aqua is finally in her element, and she can't help but make a big smile as she points her staff at the problem and activates her magic. With any luck, the curse will be broken, and food money will be dumped right into Aqua's lap.
At last, Aqua has taken total control of the situation, and Kazuma, Megumin, and Darkness may watch with proper awe as she confronts the ultimate evil and smites it. Assuming she isn't hungover or covered in frog slime.
In this intense photo, Aqua stands in the middle of a snowy forest, and she has a stern face that no cursed villain would be happy to see. Perhaps it's the demon king himself, and Aqua is about to smite him and return to her original realm among the gods at last.
It's time for some more reverse isekai, and Aqua is proving to be the same in Japan as she is in the fantasy world. For example, it's the middle of the morning and she hasn't had a bite to eat. How can that be?
Aqua angrily holds up a small frying pan, and either her friends coldly rejected her cooking, or she asked someone else to do the cooking and they totally blew it off. Aqua can't smite evil without a full stomach, and this lack of breakfast is heresy in her eyes.
