Opening up an old solar garden light will show you what components to look for. These are very simple devices and can be all assembled within a glass jar. The tools required are a craft knife, a screw driver and a hot glue gun.

2) Battery freshness: often overlooked. Always make sure you have the freshest battery possible. A battery can lose it's ability to hold a charge as time goes on. You want batteries that move off of shelves quickly to be sure they aren't old.

Lithium cells must be charged very differently than NiCD or NiMH cells. Firstly they require a special charger specifically designed to charge lithium cells, NEVER use NiCD or NIMH only chargers on LiPo batteries! You must use a Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer charger that is designed to handle the number of cells you are trying to charge. Charging Lithium cells is the most hazardous part of using lithium batteries. EXTREME care must be taken when charging them to avoid damaging the cells or worse causing them to catch fire. It is important to set your charger to the correct voltage or cell count. There have been fires directly caused by lithium batteries so PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE when charging lithium batteries .

If you don't have cables, follow the linkage to a pivot point that is frozen. This may require removing an access cover. Thaw out cables or linkage using same method as frozen impeller; safely applied heat.

You are storing Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel-Metal Hydrate (NiMH) power cells. These will lose some of their capacity every day if not stored in the refrigerator or environments at 70 degree room temperature. If you can keep them where it's cooler than that, you may not have a problem.
