Coorg Resorts – Experience Scotland in India

Daniel Simson

Coorg, officially known as Kodagu, is an affluent hill station in Karnataka. When came to India during their visit in the 19th century, the Britishers had aptly named Coorg as India's Scotland for its imposing mountains and a perennial misty landscape. It is famous for its exotic scenery and lush green hills and valleys. The forests cover the hills while the spice and coffee plantations add to the scenic landscape making the most sought after destination. Coorg belongs to a local clan called the Kodavas, known for its keen hospitality and martial arts expertise. Coorg and coffee plantations are synonymous. Madikeri, the center point of the region, connects Coorg with the rest of the state. Coorg is surrounded by some charming towns like Kushalnagar, Pollibetta, Somwarpet, Virajpet, and Gonikoppal.
