THE RISK OF TEARS: Because anus, unlike vagina, is not meant for intercourse, it is not elastic in nature to accommodate a penis. Also, it is meant for one way passage and not the other way around. So, when you indulge in anal sex, your rectal tissue in the anal passage is meant to suffer tears.

TEARS TRANSLATE INTO STIs: When there are tears in your rectal cavity, the odds of contracting STDs are very high. These include diseases such as rectal gonorrhoea, HIV and chlamydia. Anal activity can also transmit Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV IS VERY DANGEROUS: There are over 40 strains of HPV, some low-risk and some high-risk. If the person you are having sex with has strains of HPV, the chances of which are very high as about half heterosexual men may have it, it can lead to various infections. HPV can cause anal warts and even cancer of the anus.

SCREENING OF THESE STDs DIFFICULT: For anally transmitted sexual infections, the screening is more difficult because the usual check-up does not include that. You need to specifically inform the doctor about being active in anal sex to request the tests.

FAECAL INCONTINENCE: A study conducted by Northwestern University found that women who had anal sex as a part of their bedroom activity regularly were more likely to have anal sex changed the consistency of their stools. Anal sex can cause faecal as well as urinary incontinence.

can anal sex have any long term effects on my body? I’ve heard that it can cause anal leakage later in life, and anal prolapse. is this true?
Anal sex is perfectly healthy and safe in both the long and short term. As with vaginal sex (penis-in-vagina sex), there’s a very small risk of leakage and prolapse (when your pelvic muscles weaken and cause organs to slip down) over the course of a lifetime. Anal sex can also aggravate existing hemorrhoids.
People who have anal sex can follow a few simple guidelines:
Between our sexual health educators or chat bot, we got you covered.
Between our sexual health educators or chat bot, we got you covered.
Between our trained sexual health educators or chat bot, we can answer your questions about your sexual health whenever you have them. And they are free and confidential.
