This is a really solid medium dose of saw palmetto, and a handful of ingredients that helps with an enlarged prostate. I take it along with a separate dose of Beta Sitosterol. Together I feel they pack the biggest wallop you can find to aid in an aging prostate without going the prescription route. Its not the most powerful dose of Saw Palmetto you can buy, but the price is definitely right. And more importantly you shouldn't be taking any more of this than necessary for its just a waste of money. I can tell you from personal experience that this stuff really works, and has for years now for me. It's way better than getting a prescription and continuing to make the doctors and drug companies rich... As far as the addition of Magnesium Stearate in this combo. Magnesium stearate is a magnesium salt containing stearic acid. I pay its addition here no mind since its in just about everything we eat anyway. Stearic acid is a common fatty acid found in meat, poultry, fish, grains, eggs, butter, and milk products. In meat, it accounts for 1/3 of the saturated fat. Unless you're willing to give up all that in your diet, you aren't doing yourself any harm with the amount that this supplement contains. The amount of stearic acid ingested in a vitamin product such as this is a small percent of a fatty acid that you consume every day as part of your diet, a type of fatty acid that is not problematic in the first place. That's my take on it anyway, but you make up your own mind. All I know is this stuff helps immensely with the problems and embarrassment of an enlarged prostate, and it does it at a really good price. I highly recommend it.. : )
My husband works in transportation and he would often need to drive for long hours on the road. For the past year he had been noticing that he had trouble with his urine. He would constantly feel like he needed to go after every two hours or so, which made life extremely difficult given his occupation. We went to his primary care physician who diagnosed him with an enlarged prostate. For personal reasons we were looking for a more natural and herbal solution to this problem. And I was glad I came across this prostate combo from Swanson. The recommended dose is two capsules a day. However we decided to start slow. For the first month, he ate one capsule a day. And with the half dose, he experienced immense relief. After the first week of taking one capsule a day he was able to cut down his visits to the bathroom by a half. He was able to sleep through the night much longer - where he would be getting up every two hours to go to the bathroom, now he is able to sleep for four hours at a time. We are probably going to increase the dose to two capsules soon but we are extremely happy with the results so far. Please see the attached photos of how big the bottle looks like with images of the front and back. I've also included a ruler and some coins so you can roughly estimate how big the capsule is. I highly recommend giving this product a try if you or anyone you know has been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate.

Very promising results so far!

I have had BPE for years. Recently it was getting more intrusive, with more trips to the bathroom at night and more worry about being away from a bathroom too long (on airplanes, for example). I started saw palmetto several years ago to try to reduce my PSAs. I read an article about combining saw palmetto with another herb for possible better effects. Frequently these articles are speculative at best but I thought I'd try the combo in this product. In less than a month my BPE symptoms improved a lot, as if I were 10 or 15 years younger. A lot less getting up at night and less worry about being away from a bathroom. I hoped this treatment had reduced my BPE, but an inspection by the urologist last week revealed no change in size. I was disappointed about that but at least it didn't grow. I don't know why the symptoms went down when the presumed underlying cause of BPE was unchanged. Maybe the combo improves muscle tone in the bladder, but that's just a guess. I have no idea if anyone else will get this benefit. Skeptics will argue it's just a placebo effect. But if you have BPE issues, I don't see any risk in trying a bottle of the combo, especially if you're already on saw palmetto. There are the downsides of taking two capsules a day instead of one and a higher price than saw palmetto alone.
I've read many reviews here before trying the product. I can see that it works well for some people, somewhat ok for others, and not at all for some. I'm not sure if it works for me very much. I've been using it for well over two months now, and have not noticed a significant change for the better. I continue to use it because I believe it may be better than nothing. I am also on prescription from my doctor for my enlarged prostate. I do not experience problems during the day, but I have to get up a lot at night. In the past, I've experienced problems with infections in my urinary track, but took the advise of my doctor and flush my urinary track by drinking plenty of fluids. Even though this causes me to get up more often at night. I no longer experience infections. This Swanson product along with plenty of fluids may be helping with that. I'm not sure which, so I will continue with both.
I have been taking 1 per day for one month in the mornings. I also take supplemental zinc and a "men's formula" multivitamin each day. I gave this 4 stars because I have actually noticed slight improvements on two levels. First, urination starts a little easier and flow rate has indeed improved. I do notice that ending urination is a bit spotty nowadays, and it takes a couple of wipes of tissue to ensure I'm completely done. Whether this is the result of the supplement or some other factor is TBD. Second, sex seems better, however, I'm not sure how much is due to the supplement versus a placebo effect. Overall, I'm pleased and will continue to use the product. The jury is still out in terms of the saw palmetto's effect on DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) uptake (google that for more information) but since there is ample nettle root in this formula, it appears to offset any implied downside of saw palmetto regarding optimal DHT levels.
