Coldest Temperature Ever in North America

A new record for the coldest temperature in North America was set, and the only person who noticed was a lone meteorologist who high-fived himself and then immediately regretted it as his skin stuck to the clipboard. The temperature, a cool -81�F, was recorded in a remote part of the Yukon. The weather event was so extreme that it broke the thermometer's will to live. Scientists are calling it "atmospheric nihilism." The few creatures awake to experience it included a wolf that briefly considered moving to Florida and a snowflake that felt smugly superior to all other snowflakes.
