It's a little lighter and whippier than the 2.8mm Cold Steel machetes, but it works well for clearing brush. The d-guard is fully lined with steel, so blades can't cut through it. Perfect for deck-storming pirate battles!

Well made, nice feel, but quite a thin blade. I wouldn't use it for serious vine clearing and such -- have a more substantial machete for that. (Guess I got this elsewhere, but it's the same thing.)

The Cold Steel Latin spandex-guard machete with a 21" blade is a classically styled Latin machete. With a non-slip, hard-wearing handle, it is Great in almost any environment, from the Jungle to the farm. Overall length is 26 5/8". made with 1055 carbon steel with a black baked on anti rust finish. The handle measures 5 5/8" long and is made of polypropylene. Includes a cur-ex sheath.

I bought a pair for a Kali-Silat (martial arts) demo, doing sword work against a partner. They make a satisfying steel on steel ringing sound, which is fun for the audience! We can hit pretty hard and block pretty hard and these stand up to it. Of course, the edge gets chewed up, but that is to be expected. There is no sword that will be undamaged after such a workout. Also, these look like pirate swords, which makes them even cooler! I have another cold steel latin machete, with no D-guard, that I have used for yard chores, including chopping big (3-4" diameter) limbs off a tree, and then sectioning them small enough to be hauled off on yard-waste day. So these are also a good quality tool at a good price.

Complete crap. The edge is worse than just not sharp. It’s uneven, gouged, chipped, dinged, etc. Loots like someone did the initial grinder passes with a blindfold on. The balance is also just so bad. Swinging just feels so awkward. It’s also 2.0mm, which is thinner than most of the other cold steel machetes. FYI, it’s stamped “South Africa”. Hope anything else coming out of there is better quality than this.

The factory edge sucks more then a Hoover vacuum cleaner. After literally just sitting on my work bench in my garage for four days till I could put an edge on it for the weekend…rust showed up quicker then a crack head on payday. If you’re looking to buy this just to keep in your truck in case you need to clear bushes or protesters…make sure to put on edge on it and a good layer of Cosmoline on it like it’s a military surplus rifle going back into storage. Other than that, not too bad for the price.

I like it a lot since I like to wield 2 handed machetes with one hand anyway I thought I might as well go with this and buy was it a good decision. Lightweight but strong blade and enough flex to not break from too hard an impact on hard wood or something along those lines.

Looks great, not razor sharp when recieved. Sharpens easily.

This is the second Cold Steel product I've purchased for myself. The fourth I've bought over-all. my EDC is their mini-tac tanto. I loved the quality so I gifted one to a friend. I also got their XL Voyager Tanto for a friend who lives on a Caribbean Island. Then I bought this. Living in a major city my home defense options are limited. Over a decade ago I was a student of Grand Master Federico Lazo, so I know a thing or two about Kali/Arnis, so figured I'd make use of it. This baby is a beauty. Quality construction. Straight blade. Full tang that even goes around the whole guard(nice protection against blunt objects an if you're cutting brush. The odds of needing it to fend of a sword are minimal these days. lol). Full black color to keep it from being easily spotted in dim light. Absolutely perfect. My only complaint is that the hand grip is not textured. It feels slippery. I purchased some bat tape to correct this, inexpensive and excellent solution. I do wish that Cold Steel had put the same textured plastic that I have on my mini-tac tanto. But I suppose some people do find that to be too rough, so bat tape is an adequate solution. All in all, I love it, and it's an absolute bargain given it's price range. I could've spent twice as much and not gotten a tool with even half the quality. IMO go for the reputable brand, buy a tool from a nobody and you're going to end up regretting it. Edit: I put some Rawlings bat tape made a world of difference on the handle's grip. I highly recommend adding bat tape.

Yet again Cold Steel did not disappoint.

It seems like a solid piece of metal but it is not all that sharp. Overall it was worth the purchase.

Cold Steel makes very good blades. This machete is so well made and useful. Nothing fancy at all... plastic handle with guard. Works. Very good to have around the house. I have been using it cut up Amazon delivery boxes to fit in my recycling bin lol.

Good machete, very sharp. Also sharpens up nicely on a bench grinder with fine stones. Using it in pine and oak forest here. The 18 inch length is ideal as it will help you avoid accidental hits if you over swing. Also the D guard is EXCELLENT in case you are fatigued, but the best advice for that is stop cutting when you get tired as this blade will open you up easily. And it's PERFECT against snakes.

One tough machete, and easy to sharpen with a ceramic rod, great purchase, this knife is making me $12 a hour, and havent gave any problem so far, and im on day 3 putting it through he!!.

This thing is awesome. Really sharpe out of the box.

This D-Guard machete is very sharp and well made. I definitely recommend this machete.
