The resort is clean, the food is good Every night there is something different to eat. We travelled with sunwing as we do every year This year we had a problem with our luggage, it only arrived on our third day. One hour before our wedding Sunwing was prompt with compensation for missing luggage, There is a vip lounge at the airport in Varadero that we took this year, for a fee ,of course. We will certainly take it next trip. For us Iberostar Tainos is the only place for us and we cannot wait for our next trip ,. We stayed at this resort in Feb and decided to stay again in Mar My review is honest and we are not hard to please type of people. With that being said, sometimes it is the small details that will make or break a resort being mediocre or incredible. You are dropped off at the Grand Memories lobby, no big deal. However, there was not a single employee, bell boy to be found. I had to go to the front check in twice to request a ride to our lobby. In total, waited 45 minutes to get there. Once at our lobby they were pretty good, the bell boy was great and remembered us from the previous year so he did give us extra service. We had to wait until later in the day to get into our room, which was totally fine. We changed into our swimsuits and made our way to the beach to meet our friends. Beach is awesome and there is more then enough cover to be found. That being said, one of our party always got up to get a palapa in the morning. We stayed there all day from morning until 5 or 6 at night. We did see people 'reserve' huts' and would never be there!! Drinks were decent thanks to Natali and Amuray!! Room Building 32 on the garden side and we did have a slight ocean view. It was decent, however our towels were never changed, bed wasn't changed. Our maid was very nice, sorry I forget her name she was a blond lady. Room was cleaned every day. Our TV didn't work and it did take a few visits and on the 3rd day it was fixed by Able and Darvis. Good job by these 2 men!!!!!! We just like to watch the news at night. We had several instances where our room keyes wouldn't work and that meant several trips 3rd floor several times during the week. Again, Able was able to rectify this, but it was still inconvenient. They actually replaced the unit 3 separate times. I don't get that. Food We did feel that there was a lack of items here. With that being said, the 2 a la cart dinners we had were very good and the presentation of those meals was excellent!! The soup was excellent, as was the lobster and the steak with accompanying sauce. Coffee and specialty coffee was excellent too! They tried hard with what they had to work with. General Property Our section of the hotel property as a whole was nice. A small bone of contention with me is smoking! Sorry, I am a non-smoker but not militant. There is no need to gather directly outside of the restaurant directly and puff away. It is a walkway of sorts or a common area and the number of people smoking was astonishing. Or the lobby area. There should be a designated buffer between. I don't want to walk out of the restaurant and be immediately hit with cigarette smoke. This leads to my point of the lack of ashtrays for same. The butts were everywhere! More on the Grand Memories section of that huge lobby. I was actually appalled. The staff do try their best to clean this up, but I did notice several times where the staff and guests would drop something an. Let me count the ways this Hotel disappointed me from my previous time there. The services, the cleanness, the food offered. Dinning: butter no available for 5 days out of my 7 days stay. Wine no available for 2 full days and when available only red could be offered. My partner was told by the staff that it was not milk to offer flan or bread putting. Espresso Coffee just dark and cold watering liquid. The stay of disrepair on many areas is pure neglect. The buffet area has a door issues that I was told by people that frequent this places has been noisy for years. Toilets running water in many units. I could go on but let me leave it there. The sad part comes in two areas, cell phone users by the staff has replaced customer interaction with guests. Cuba no longer what it used to be. I was told by by other patrons to watch for items missing from their rooms in previous stays. Small, to have not being able to be accountable before their return home. Last but no least, smoker guests' at the hotel have yet to learn to be mindful of the environment and leave cigarettes buts on the sand. I have stay in other resorts in Varadero where plastic caps have being attached to the umbrellas so the cigarettes buts can be deposited. YANG 4.
