Coinbase rolls out Lightning Network support in collaboration with Lightspark
Powered by @unfoldedCoinbase, the largest U.S. crypto exchange, has rolled out support for the Lightning Network, enabling faster and cheaper bitcoin transactions for its users.
Lightning Network is a Layer 2 protocol built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain that allows for near-instant, low-fee transactions off-chain.
Coinbase users will be limited to withdrawing a maximum of $2,000 with Lightning Network, and there is a 0.1% processing fee associated with Lightning transactions.
Coinbase partnered with Lightning Network infrastructure firm Lightspark for the integration, and there are no current plans to integrate Lightning into Coinbase Wallet or other Coinbase products.
