Procedure

Collect Paper Scraps:

Gather old newspapers or any scrap paper you have lying around. Recycling paper not only reduces waste but also gives your handmade paper a rustic and unique appearance.

Prepare Coffee Grounds:

Save used coffee grounds from your morning brew or use fresh grounds for a stronger color. The amount you use will determine the intensity of the coffee hue on your paper.

Blend Paper and Coffee:

Tear the paper scraps into smaller pieces and place them in a blender. Add the desired amount of coffee grounds. Pour in enough water to cover the mixture. Blend until you achieve a smooth, pulp-like consistency.

Create Pulp Mixture:

Transfer the blended mixture into a large basin or tub. You can experiment with the ratio of paper to coffee grounds to achieve the desired color and texture.

Prepare the Workspace:

Set up your workspace by covering surfaces with towels or cloths. Place the mesh screen or frame in the basin, ensuring it is fully submerged in the pulp mixture.

Dip and Lift:

Submerge the mesh screen into the pulp mixture, allowing it to collect a thin layer of the mixture. Lift the screen slowly, letting excess water drain off.

Press and Dry:

Place a sponge on top of the collected pulp layer and gently press to remove more water. Carefully peel the newly formed paper from the mesh screen and lay it on a flat, absorbent surface to dry.

Repeat the Process:

Continue the process until you have produced the desired number of sheets. Allow each sheet to dry completely before stacking them.
