During a scheduled boarding of the container ship MV Pacific Dawn, crew members identified crates that did not match the general cargo manifest. Inspectors found 18 metal medallions and 24 fabric banners bearing the swastika, along with several paper posters and insignia tucked inside pallets. The items were confiscated, logged, and are under further analysis by investigators to determine their intended recipients and the networks involved.

Preliminary manifest reviews indicated the ship originated in a port region outside the country’s immediate jurisdiction and was bound for a different foreign destination. The Coast Guard said the vessel is now under detention while investigators from the Department of Homeland Security and collaborating agencies conduct a full audit of cargo documentation, communications, and supply chains. No injuries were reported, and there were no environmental or safety hazards linked to the seizure.

Officials emphasized that the incident is being treated as part of a larger maritime security crackdown aimed at disrupting the distribution of propaganda and material that could empower extremist movements. Investigators will seek to determine whether the symbols were intended for private collectors, art dealers, or a network with plans to disseminate hate material.
