Coach Potter: "Chelsea are not yet capable of competing for the title"

Graham Potter insists Chelsea are a great club but also admits that his side are not ready to compete for major titles.

Potter admits Chelsea can't compete for title yet

Graham Potter joined Chelsea in September and has made an impressive start with a nine-match unbeaten streak. However, the 4-1 loss to Brighton and the derby defeat to Arsenal last weekend indicated that Chelsea still has a lot of work to do.

Coach Potter: Chelsea are not qualified to compete for the title

Coach Potter also understood this. He admits that Chelsea must try to catch up with the best teams in the Premier League and Europe.

“One of the reasons I came here, is because it is a great club, has the potential to be one of the best in the world, and can compete for any major title.

But I think we all know that Chelsea haven't reached that level yet. We haven't gotten to that level in the last few years. That's the reality when you look at the standings and the score gap between the top 2 and Chelsea.

So how to get to that level? By effort, by pain, by moving forward. It is a process of learning, growing and moving forward. That is also why we are here.”

Chelsea are struggling with form and have dropped to 7th place in the Premier League. The London team drew 2 and lost 2 of the last 4 matches in the Premier League. Potter's army only scored 2 goals and conceded 5 goals in this period.
