Clutch judder when taking off in first gear I have a 2015 Kia Sportage 1

This type of clutch is a lot like the viscous coupling sometimes found in all-wheel drive cars Get the engine to about 2000rpm (assuming adjacent gears are in the ratio 3:2) and, with care, you should be able to engage 2nd gear with no clutch . On the way to Dover there was a bump on the M1, which was slow moving As a result of the leak I had no gear engagement at all but did manage to crawl 150m to park up before arranging recovery .

The videos suggested that continuous inching up in jams by easing off the brake was equivalent to riding the clutch, as first gear would never fully engage, but rather slip and heat up the clutch every time you momentarily inch up --- they say it's better to inch up less often over a bigger gap each time, which would firstly of course be less often and secondly fully engage

When the car is cold (and it’s cold outside), the car sometimes shudders starting out in first gear for a couple minutes Clutch is nice and smooth when changing gear but it judders sometimes when taking up drive from a standstill . Recently my Rover 214 has developed a strange judder ive searched the threads and have had no luck Pay close attention to any changes in performance .

If your Clutch is starting to fail it could be for one of the reason below it needs attention and the sooner the better call us today

Clutch Drag Symptoms – Difficulty in engaging first gear from neutral without making a noise, a jolt when changing gear whilst driving and vehicle moves when pedal in depressed The car has had this since we purchased it 25,000 miles or over 3 years ago . It doesnt do it again, it just does it twice everytime it has had a new clutch put in less than a year ago so i don't think its that (i hope not anyway) .

Mainly on a certain brow of a hill from cold, now and again when stuck in traffic

There was a service Bulletin and a class Action suit on the previous CVT models, Civic, ZE1 where they repair the start clutch and extend the warranty At 18 months old / 17k the car had a clutch and flywheel fitted at an eye watering cost thankfully covered by warranty . This powertrain system can be fitted with manual transmission VW Clutch Judder: This is caused by a warped friction plate or the gearbox or engine mounts could be broken .

Noise under this condition indicates a worn release bearing or a worn pilot bearing

The YCC-S advanced automatic-clutch system retains the manual YXZ1000R manual transmission, with nine friction plates (one more than the 2016), eight metal plates, one judder spring and new primary-gear dampers; YCC-S replaces the console-mounted sequential shifter with a F-N-R range selector and adds paddle shifters to the steering column After being fixed, when I’m travelling at a very slow speed turning left or right, or starting off (not all the time), first gear does not engage immediately and I get a judder when it does . Lie under the truck while someone you trust pulls away a bit sharply for a few feet - sometimes it can be seen/more easily identified from under the vehicle Symptoms: Difficulty in engaging first gear from neutral without making noise, jolt when changing gear with the vehicle in motion, vehicle moves when pedal is fully depressed .

My 2011 520d clutch has an intermittent judder in the clutch

Good Luck! Clutch work is a real rascal for us guys over 60 The clutch plate is sandwiched between the flywheel and pressure plate . I have tightened a couple of loose square headed lock nuts in the gearbox as per your tips in your book, also changed the rubber mountings to the gearbox together with the fork end assembly Resend my activation email: Register: Log in : Stalls when put in first gear .

My car only judders in first gear and pulling off from a stand still sometimes being slight or none at all to absolutely awful

After about 5 minutes or so the clutch starts working well as it usually does 5 TDi Caravelle has juddered too from the day I bought it (2nd hand) . My 2008 Volkswagen Caddy violently judders whilst pulling away, especially in reverse Judder will get progressively worse, then a bit of slip in the lower gears, moving up through until it slips in fifth as soon boost comes in .

I thought it was just the car park where I live/wheels slipping but after having a play around today it has done it a few times!

any thoughts on what it might be and how much it might cost to fix? Anyone experience a slight momentary judder when engaging reverse and applying some gas on their QV? If I switch from drive, park, or neutral to reverse and apply gas, there's a really slight momentary judder as the car starts moving, then it operates smoothly . When I set off in first gear, my car sometimes stutters and shakes until I put it into a higher gear It has been back to the garage twice since the repair .

It was a sort of judder and screech and it was very annoying

Try this: In a large parking lot or empty stretch of road, try starting the car moving from a stop while in 3rd gear Only happens in first gear, all other gears work fine without a noise . I made the mistake of not requesting a factory OEM clutch replacement, so the shop put in an aftermarket clutch kit and resurfaced the flywheel Judder is when the car shudders (chatters) as the clutch is being engaged .

I have read a few posts on clutch judder, bad clutch or pressure plate, DMF or engine mounteven spark plugs and leadswhat is it?!

so i started the bike in 1st gear, eased off the clutch and rode about a block to a parking lot Running up to say 3000rpm in first gear, back off the throttle to take all load off the transmission and put the gearbox into neutral . Possible cause may be as follows: 1) Flywheel has excessive run-out Between 1,000 - 2,000 rpm and let out clutch: sometimes shakes i was very careful about not getting any grease on the new clutch, however, I first put some white lithium grease in the pilot bearing and then added the sach style grease .

If I'm starting on a slight downhill or the car is already rolling (even at like 1 mph) going back into 1st and releasing the clutch is super smooth, it's just when I'm at a dead stop

You hold the pedal and don't move it when it starts to engage and the car starts moving Two of us drive this vehicle and it does it for both of us intermittently so I'm pretty sure it is not the driving style . Clutch judder is a kind of low frequency vibration felt in the car and associated with the system Run the engine (with the parking brake applied to prevent the vehicle from moving) and hold the clutch pedal about 1/2-inch from the floor .

I have tested by going to 1500 rpms and slowly releasing the clutch pedal

The 2nd gear has a slight judder, 3rd onwards no judder Does this mean a new clutch or can it be adjusted . The clutch lever compresses the springs so the plates are not pressed tightly together What is the purpose of each? Torsional spring will give you smoother gear changes .

To select first gear you move the gearstick to the left - which engages the first selector fork - then up, which pushes the first/second hub into mesh with the smallest gear, closest to the input shaft

Harder starts (2k+ RPM) seem to nullify the problem, but it's not practical to always start off like that Not normal, the stock clutch is really nice and certainly makes zero chatter . i've heard it could be the engine mounts that have collapsed causing it to judder 1) In 1st gear on a level surface, low RPM as I release clutch it begins to shudder .

A clutch as you know is responsible for the smooth application of engine power to the gearbox

This paper presents investigations into the robustness of the software for double clutch transmissions and strategies for anti-judder con-trol and slip control that LuK offers its cus-tomers If you notice clutch judder, it is an indication that the clutch assembly including the flywheel might need replacement . If you pick the right clutch the first time, you'll be rewarded with good manners & a long service life In morning (when car is cold) for first 3-5 minutes of drive clutch works on 1st gear perfectly fine .

First the system is defined, dynamic mathematical model provided and the equations of motion for the system with the clutch sticking and sliding are derived from the free body diagram

Where are you feeling the judder through? the clutch pedal?, whole car in general?, steering wheel? etc An oil-soaked clutch or a weak or warped pressure plate causes clutch slippage . Recently i've been experiencing an issue whereby i will try and pull away in first gear (after being parked) and the car will briefly struggle and as a result judders and hesitates Could someone give me an approximate price for this as I know on my old Rover 400 it was over Β£300 and that was over 6 years ago .

They are incorrect as to say that the proper revs in first gear is all you need to do

If your engine starts revving at high RPM and vehicle is not picking up speed, the clutch plate is worn out Try lifting the clutch VERY VERY slowly when you set off in first gear . I know the dual mass flywheels are absolute rubbish and could be at fault, but if it is then a it's down to wear and tear It may be just general wear and tear, particularly if the car has done mainly town driving .

hi all, first time poster so go easy on me! ;) I have an 05 318ci and have been experiencing, what I would call, clutch judder

Re: Possible Cure For First Gear Judder and wobbly idle Do you think this would be the case with the selespeed box deckchair 5, I have an 02' Abarth which is out of warranty It is unlikely that anything inside the gearbox will cause this, so don't panic . The problem was caused by clutch material deterioration, which caused general system contamination and overheating, and gradual torque converter failure Driving down a steep hill mintaining 40mph, the gearbox will change down to 3rd, spinning the engine up to 3000 rpm, even whilst brakes are applied .

Comments: Occasionally I'm getting clutch judder when I pull away in first gear especially when the car is cold is there cause for concern? March 18, 2016 : Followup from the Pelican Staff: The clutch may be on the way out

The previous clutch had completely worn out and the flywheel had to be reground to accept the replacement β€’ If the judder is still there, repeat steps 1 thru 11 . I have a Kia venga & it has started to judder when start off in first gear, generally if the car has been standing for a while /overnight The following day I drove back home along A12 therefore not much clutch use .

Took it to a diagnostics specialist and they re calibrated the clutch

It's not a clutch slip issue, it shifts and holds fine in all gears and will sure bang shifts in S6, it's just that initial acceleration and it only happens in first gear up between 1,000-1,800rpm, but not in second gear Check the shifter pawl on the lever behind the Clutch basket/primary gear is engaging the shift star on the end of the shift drum . My 05 in its original clutch is silky smooth even after 146,000 miles of use, no exedy oem replacement for this one, real oem when the time comes All that is usually necessary is to pump the clutch a few times before you are ready to engage, hold it in for a couple of seconds then rev it up slightly, as the rev's come down it will go into gear very smoothly .

These resulting oscillations inherit the first resonance frequency of the driveline

I've not had a problem with 1st gear engaging however I do have problems engaging reverse occasionally and also experience the judder It happens just before the clutch takes (which is quite high) This only happens in 1st gear . My '11 Roadster has been juddering under lower RPMs and moderate load Towards the end of the journey as i was pulling away from junctions I'd get serious shudder in first gear .

My clutch has not slipped nor does it feel like it will

For the next 4 years of ownership it suffered from a slight bit of judder clutch judder in first gear, clutch judder new clutch, clutch judder symptoms, . 5 dci Tekna Clutch judder Post by Monkeywba Β» Sun May 17, 2015 9:33 am My cars just done 8000 miles, had it from new and I've just started to notice a little bit of clutch judder just as I'm pulling off in 1st gear, the first 3/4's of the biting point is fine the the last 1/4 you feel the car judder 4 or 5 times very quickly then your First thing to rule out is that you're just not used to driving a car with a Clutch Delay Valve (CDV), which restricts the flow of clutch fluid and causes a judder, especially in first gear .

One of the common defects discovered in the e90 3-series is a clutch judder problem in models equipped with a manual transmission

My 2004 Honda Jazz NZ new that has only done 47,000km and has a judder coming from the CVT transmission almost every time I take off from a stopped positon The clutch did eventually give up last Sunday, a mate had to tow me back to my address, the mechanic who took the car to the scrap yard said it was the clutch that had failed but the gear box was acting up too, he said it would cost nearly Β£1000 to do all the work on such a old car, that i would be better off in getting rid of it, i am not . You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed As a result, I have to wait until I'm doing about 4k rpm in first before I can accelerate hard, and then it doesn't do it .

Sounds like it might be getting some oil contamination on the friction plate, one way to tell if its this is to 'ride' the clutch for a short time with ya foot on the brake (in first gear with some revs at a standstill), this heats the clutch up quickly and should burn off any oil contaminants, if this is the case then

Starts in 2nd gear doesn't cause any judder at all After 10,000 miles the judder was minimal but still present . 1981 240D four speed, like title says it has a shudder when you take off in 1st gear Not sure if it is my driving style or a problem with the car but it suffers from clutch judder when pulling away in 1st gear first thing in the morning, and this continues for the first couple of miles until the car warms up .

I have heard of roadster and 450 clutches needing replaced at 30,000miles, but that is not the norm, they should be as long lasting as a standard manual car clutch, and in britain cost of replacement is about Β£300, so it is not too bad an expense

Any experiences with this, and how the dealer handled it, would be appreciated The shift lever, front seats, body, and steering wheel also vibrate . Hi, wondering if anyone has come across this Mostly in first gear when just pulling away, happens when cold and warm, I notice my car (2006, 2 Hi, My 320d has developed a juddering clutch when pulling away in 1st gear .

I'm very disappointed with exedy clutchs and I don't recommend no one not to

The input shaft turns, the small gear is being driven, so the laygear turns relatively slowly When pressing down the pedal a judder can be felt through the pedal . Rare snowfall visits Las Vegas for first time in nearly two years thus making your pressure plate prone to clutch judder A slipping clutch: Clutch slip is evident when you observe that an unexpected increase in engine speed occurs without any accompanying acceleration when your car is in gear, the clutch pedal is fully released, and you push the accelerator pedal .

If there is any resistance at all to the second engagement of first gear, clutch drag is present and the operating mechanism should be adjusted as described below

If resetting the adjustment makes no improvement, overhaul is the only course of action It’s probably clutch related, for example due to worn out friction material and/or a pressure plate defect BUT it’s also possible that the motor mounts could be implicated and the engine as well if the engine is bogging down (due to an ignition, fuel, or air induction fault) under the load experienced when you start in 1st gear . I returned to the garage and they said it could only be the DMF Judder Not for the first time, called to see the fiat dealer in France about the reverse gear (having to slip the clutch to reverse as it is to high of a gear, if you let your clutch out fully you (I) do not have full control going up a grassy lane/ with a slight slope tight both sides for about 1500m in reverse to park my motorhome every time .

Hellofellow kugafolkHas anyone experienced an engine judder/vibration when in 5th gearat about 1950 rpm and accelerating/speeding up

I get a very noticeable shudder through the gear lever All other gear changes are smooth and are pulling well none of the obvious decrease in power usually felt with a clutch on its last legs . Does this mean something bad is about to go wrong with it? Apparently this is a common problem with the CVT gear boxs in these cars Could a faulty detent spring cause this? It has no issue staying in gear, and the juddering is only present for a little bit of the .

The fix for this problem at this stage is transmission removal, disassembly and complete rebuild, a little over $2000 dollars, maybe more

The best system is to pull in the clutch and move the engine in to first gear WITHOUT the engine running After the car was in the garage all day I would assume With all the diagnostic gear rolling road etc the fault would appear . The garage have used the famous line It will bed in From a cold start, I wheel the bike out if the garage with the clutch in and in first gear; slip into neutral for startup, then the first gear selection is silent .

Clutch-shudder (Judder) Symptoms And Malfunction Causes

Pretty sure the alba kit is just a full disk there Two of the OEM fibers had larger ID's so they would go over the anti judder spring and seat . Its really weird and the car doesn't feel like its going as it should Could it either be too low of an rpm or heat spots on the clutch? 14 2 .

When disengaging the clutch in first gear (and a little in second), I get a strong grab by the engine - a lurch, really

Clutch judder: Clutch judder is most noticeable when setting off from a standstill Clutch take-up judder is a fore and aft vibration of a vehicle in the frequency range 5–20 Hz, caused by the torsional vibrations of the driveline which occur during the clutch engagement process, usually in the start-up process , , , . The springs inside the centre plate take up the torsion shock when you disengage the clutch as the friction material moves back in place and clamps to the hydraulic clutch Advantages and disadvantages of hydraulic clutch active sporting 53 plate it runs beautifully until its done around 20 miles and then setting off in first gear i get awful clutch judder .

Whenever I pull off in 1st gear from a standing start I have to be really conscious of how I work the clutch with the accelerator so as not to cause a large 'shudder' throughout the car

had new clutch fitted it judders in first and reverse gears garage changed clutch for a more expensive one this one also judders the car did not judder with the old clutch the car is a Chrysler grand voyager 2 Until a tooth broke off the starter pinion at Wakefield Park track day and the ring gear tossed it up, and broke the PCV breather boss above the clutch . It has developed a serious judder when releasing the clutch in 1st gear However, once on the go gear changes were no bother and she cruised (use the term lightly here) at 55-60 mph .

Clutch slippage: strong vibration and rumbling sound when clutch is engaged (pedal released) in first gear when engine is cold

The car has recently developed a clutch judder when pulling away in first gear after the car has stood all night The clutch system on the 00-03 GS is a weak point for at least some owners . The technical Honda description for the fault is β€œstart clutch judder on acceleration” com - 2018 Honda CRF250R Recalled for Clutch Failure .

It may be that I have terrible clutch control however it never happened in my instructor's car or my mum's

When cold the car is horrible taking off in first gear!! In 35 years of driving I have never had such a grainy clutch!! This was of course when the engine was warm after a few miles . renault duster clutch plate change - Valeo is a multinational automotive supplier and partner to automakers worldwide Bad clutch Judder in 1st, but not all the time? Guys, when I move from standstill in first gear, I hit biting point and the clutch judders really badly .

Only step on the clutch while engaging a gear or during

8vvt clutch judder If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above The only prob remaining is when the clutch lever is depressed, ( when transmission is in first gear ) there is still too much friction . Clutch Judder In First Gear   Clutch judder is normally felt when pulling off in first gear or low speed driving So at great expense i had the DMF replaced 1 week after the new clutch but the problem when setting of is still there .

It may happen when trying to get into first gear from a stop, or at any point up and down the assorted gears

Both flywheel and pressure plate are fixed to engine rotation and the clutch is fixed to the gearbox rotation There is no better way to get a feel for starting off then letting your car sit on level ground in first gear with the clutch engaged . Try pressing the pedal repeatedly to see if it β€œpumps up” and gets firmer, easing engage - ment The shudder is noticeable in the gear shift lever .

As it has a six-speed shifting mechanism, one clutch engages the first, third, and fifth gear while the other acts on the second, fourth, and sixth gear

problem is Im sure they won't find a fault and again And that's anther day wasted When I set off from a still start in 1st gear, I get a judder experience through the pedals where it feels the car shakes . Can get it in second sometimes if not shifting smoothly As discussed this is not detrimental to the life of the clutch and is .

7D and I have only noticed this issue in the last couple of months

Hello , Recently my car has developped a light judder that last for 1-2 seconds when moving off from first gear , the car is manual When a clutch won’t fully disengage, it makes it difficult to put the transmission into first gear at a stop . The clutch felt great for a few days then a vibration appeared on the pedal when setting off in first gear You will use all the OEM (steel's) clutch plates 9ea .

Judder is a bucking/slippage upon take off, then between 14-20mph then again at say 30-40mph

It is very slow between 1st & 2nd gear and travelling up to 30mph between gears 3, 4 & 5th gears each change causes a judder The clamp load on a new clutch assembly is sufficient to transmit 30% more torque than the vehicle’s OE engine torque rating as a safety factor against slipping by design . Keep the clutch lever in and start to move the scooter forward, whilst slowy letting the clutch out The majority of the time when I change from 1st to 2nd, and sometimes 3rd gear the car judders and im not too sure why? Not sure whether its the way im changing gears of it its the actual car? The way i change gears is normal .

After 3 hours or so, the clutch developed a judder when starting off in 1st gear

Problem with the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder connection on Renault Megane 2 Sedan 1 It's amazing how much lighter the clutch action feels, and it is very easy to get into/out of gear . Just wanted to verify that it could be an oil-soaked clutch However, several automotive magazines have reported same problem on their long term tests .

The clutch is a standard (non-racing) and is hydraulically operated

Slowly let out until you feel the car move forward enough to travel on it’s on without stalling However, I do feel it most when the car is crawling, still (just) in D2 and then with a need to accelarate (e . it can engage clutch as early as at first gear!! That’s why we get decent mpg from this transmission Doesn't happen all the time and only from a dead stop .

I initially thought it was the clutch, so I replaced the clutch, and adjusted the clutch as per the manual

Then I disengage the the throttle as I engage the clutch at the same time Say you've just pulled off in 1st gear, and you are going at about 20mph and just let the car roll without pressing any of the pedals . The role of the dual mass is reduce to torsional vibration and in theory offers a smoother drive when it comes to changing gear That unwillingness to select may be even more pronounced with the car's parts being new and not yet bedded in .

The only way to avoid it was to set off like Schumacher and in stop and start traffic you just look like a tit

Clutch judder is usually 1st and reverse, so perhaps that isn't your problem Bill Blam, it kind of feels like a clutch judder: not as shocking or violent as a clutch judder, but akin to it (my foot is not on or coming off then clutch when the car is juddering) . You may be able to use the factory 1/2 friction, steel and 2 rings in place of 2 of there plates What could cause clutch judder? Judder is when the car shudders (chatters) as the clutch is being engaged .

The clutch is then engaged, connecting the engine and wheels, using the new gear ratio

If you leave the engine idling, press the clutch down, put the car into first gear, then let the clutch up quickly, this will rapidly put a lot of load on the engine, causing its speed to drop and stall The clutch diaphragm fingers will appear flat to slightly raised when the clutch and disc are installed and torqued properly with properly matched gauge on a clutch and disc . This happens whether I'm using ACC or manually accelerating for the last 4 weeks i have had the problem of clutch slip or judder when pulling away in 1st gear the car is a 2016 registered corsa excite,1000 cc .

Few days ago I started to feel a judder when at low speeds/pulling away

The technician came back and said the engine is fine and confirmed the judder is noticeable in the 1st gear and the reverse, and this maybe due to the previous drivers bad habits where the clutch I used to put a hint of copper slip grease on the spline to overcome this problem . The creep function means that when first gear or reverse gear is engaged the clutch is partially engaged (i Clutch-shudder (Judder) Symptoms And Malfunction Causes This symptom occurs when the clutch is engaged at take-off, shaking the vehicle in fore- and-aft direction .

I kept the judder spring removed and replaced it with a steel disc instead - same thing happens

TSB S307-13 : Fault with the clutch lining of the torque converter 64551 turns of the drive to make 1 turn of the output shaft( good for standard motor-home) . These vibrations occur at take-off in first gear, at 3/4 to full throttle You'll notice 1 of the steel rings inside that fiber is not flat .

I have lost performance, the car is hesitant and the gear stick is vibrating and just feels horrible to drive

REMOVE 11 & 12 SWAP THE 1ST (TOWARDS ENGINE) STEEL WITH THE NEW ZX10R STEEL If you find it difficult to engage first gear without a grinding noise from the gears, you are probably experiencing drag . It starts off gradually as the clutch starts to bite, but gets much worse as you release the clutch Only happens starting in 1st or R, and occasionally between shifts if I let the clutch slip a little .

The first diagnostic step should be measuring the β€œthrow” of the slave cylinder, and comparing it to specifications

8mm thick fully compressed, the factory steels are 2 I think my car has now done 26k on the original clutch so it must be nearly gone (although it feels ok ) . Hi, I'm new to the Club so I hope I'm doing things correctly ! New pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel, as well as throwout bearing and trans input guide bearing .

Not sure if its a clutch or transmission issue or possibly carburetor since its happening upon acceleration from a dead stop

The Q5 was service'd and MOT last week and I did book it in for a clutch judder when setting off, but it was hit and miss, so I told Audi Wakefield to forget it A brand new uprated clutch was fitted by Kelvedon Lotus a few years ago when the gearbox was overhauled and it has covered just 3000 miles since . However, as the clutch wears, the plates get thinner You haven't said what speed you were doing when you tried to select 1st gear .

While the car sets off in first gear, second is already preselected and can be switched over in as little as 0

TSB S307-11 : Growling Noise In 4th Gear During Warmup TSB S307-12 : Transmission driveline clonk/knocking when changing R to D, 5 to 4, 2 to 1 Clutch Drag – Difficulty in engaging first gear from neutral without making noise, jolt when changing gear with the vehicle in motion, vehicle moves when pedal is fully depressed . It could be due to worn-out friction material or a pressure plate defect (or combination of both) I had a Toyota with a worn release bearing - this meant that the clutch did not fully release the engine from the gearbox causing clutch drag .

Tech Report: The technician went out with the car for a roadtest, when pulling away from a junction in 1st gear, if there was no acceleration while releasing the clutch then slight judder was felt

Hi, on occasion my car will judder when pulling off in first gear, it has its days where it's completely normal and then there are days where I will judder really bad! And feels like I'm about to stall, usually when this happens if I drive the car for a couple of minutes everything goes back to with the clutch still pulled in the bike starts to move! so i hit the kill switch again . When I try and set off quickly in first gear, the front wheels judder, almost as if they are bouncing along the road Tim, I think the noise you hear is just the fuel pump priming the injection system, so I doubt that that would affect it .

The prior owner died, all I have is a work order that states it was due for a clutch 25,000 miles ago and it was clutch chatter

The clutch bites and as you realise and pick up the drive the car will stutter and judder, however if you find the bite and release quickly the drive is fairly normal (but a little aggressive) this only really happens in first gear and slightly in reverse Name 3 clutch faults and give a cause for each: Clutch Slip . Rev the engine and slip the clutch a lot for a few seconds then I change gear box oil and change mile meter switch .

When you then try to pull away the brake does not disengage in time and you get the sudden judder and shake of the car

Sourcing 1st-4th gears and hubs is near impossible, so i was lucky that i did not need those The clutch looks fine as the biting point is fine, it doesnt slip, all other gears are fine , plus car has only done 62k miles . Our GTL is experiencing what I think is a clutch problem 2005 Toyota Tacoma (6 speed manual transmission) has experienced excessive transmission noise and clutch judder when starting in first gear since the day of purchase .

Most of the time, the way to overcome this is by taking the revs up to about 2100 rpm and easing in the clutch slowly, which reduces the effect

I am taking the car to the main dealership tomorrow so i will post the outcome here As you use the clutch the contamination is worn off and the clutch works properly . The judder spring seat missing does sound strange, but I can't see that causing that causing the problem, the main clutch pack should still be functioning AFAIK judder stuff that just cushions the engagement Take a beat, as I snip snap the shifter from one gear to another .

I then drove it home (150? miles) with 1L or more of oil in the clutch housing

theres clutch judder, but only in 1st gear, it will usually do it twice, once setting off from my garage, and once on the end of the street (set off in 1st again), then thats it! Feels like a wheel spin but its not Clutch judder - without a major strip down can only surmise - maybe the flywheel was scored before the old clutch was changed or a trace of the old clutch was stuck on the flywheel . Once accelerator pressed then car drives away with no judder What could be causing clutch judder first thing in the morning? We have a 2014 Suzuki Swift 1 .

The shaking stops once the clutch has been completely engaged

No clutch slip and goes through all gears no problem, accelerates as normal ? Once your speed is down to approx 20mph then push the clutch down, continue to brake to around 10mph, then put it into second gear and bring the clutch back up . By 1,000 miles of use most of the judder was gone, it only happened taking off in first gear and in reverse Either need to hit gas hard (and I super hate it) or need to take-off only by releasing clutch without adding any gas (other car owners super hate it) .

This is a good question and I think what happens is that the clutch that connects the ICE to the eMotor and transmission engages, and first gear engages, so that engine compression can hold the car . Different vehicle but recently my vw eos would judder in 1st and reverse ,i thought driveshaft but ended up being the thrust bearing in the clutch so i replaced complete clutch now perfect Ford’s Powershift has two clutches that can function in parallel and alternating shifts
