Great music - nice layout with a dark area in the basement. From the appearance of how the bar is equipped with a few slings and even a bed with rubber sheets - and this isn't even in the dark back room area in the basement - all these things were actually in the main bar - definitely gives the impression that things could get definitely wild with the right group of people- the bar was actually pretty crowded on a Thursday night - there is a stage which is apparently for some of the performers (perhaps drag?) All in all, it was very festive, fun and even a bit cruisy. I highly recommend it if you aren't scared off by a few slings - otherwise you might try BUMP bar across the street where you'll find a flashy hip bar with more pop music and better lighting - and a younger and more conservative crowd (I think)...but not nearly as fun in my opinion.
Americans beware, this bar, The Church, charges 12.50 euros for Entrance fees, that's close to $15 US dollars. Other gay bars are free entrance, especially Spijker. You've been forewarned. Nevertheless, good luck to you and have fun in Amsterdam

Club Church has been a part of the Amsterdam gay night life since 2008. It’s dubbed as Amsterdam’s premiere cruising club. According to the club’s website, Church is not just a gay cruise club, it is also a safe and sexy space for many marginalized (sexual) groups, transcending the traditional boundaries of fetish subculture.
Club Church currently hosts more than 15 different themes parties catering to a wide range of fetishes, as well we are home to a drag family, to transgender people, to queers and freaks, to straights, to bdsm’ers, to locals and visitors.
Club Church makes the fetish subculture relevant to the wider (LGBTQIA) community by letting its voice be heard on issues such as HIV and stigma, Prep, drug education, gender acceptance, homophobia, queer visibility, street culture, migrants and sex workers.
In the age of social media and grindr, the popularity of Club Church shows that people still need to gather to see, hear, smell and touch each other in uncensored public spaces.
