Barty blinked. 'A… a what now?'

The coffee suddenly tasted even more bitter. Barty’s perfectly coiffed hair seemed to wilt a little. He’d envisioned the champagne popping, the celebratory tweets, the sheer elation of a victory hard-won. Instead, he was facing a renegotiation. Anya, he realized with a groan that echoed only in his mind, was a master of the eleventh-hour maneuver.
